Logan Director James Mangold to Write and Direct a Boba Fett Movie

Guillermo del Toro did say he wanted to the Godfather in space with a Hutt movie.

Are you saying Resistance is a copy of Rebels? Or that Rebels is a copy of TCW? And which characters are carbon copies?

 

Dude what's the deal? People been asking for a Boba Fett movie since 2014 when they announced that they are doing spinoff movies. Go back an re-read all the comments from 2014 to now that are all over the internet. Obi-Wan and Boba Fett are to 2 most asked for movies by the fandom. This is exactly what people mean when they say "SW fans don't know what they want" and why we can come to an agreement on what makes a good SW movie.

What movie do you want to make?

 

I think it's safe to assume this is going to be the best spinoff. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't find this exciting. James Mangold is a damn fine filmmaker and I'm sure he'd even make a Sy Snootles flick interesting. That said, despite owning a UCS Slave I and I'm not too hot on Boba Fett as a character (Cad Bane FTW) but because of the person behind the camera I am optimistic. Just no more director layoffs, m'kay?

PS. That being said, to paraphrase Kylo "Let Star Wars Stories die. Kill them, if you have to."

 

Really excited! Love Boba Fett. I am in a perdiod of my life i really don't care how many SW they will make. Just give me (good and coherent) SW movies, I will see it, and then judge it.

Although I think Logan is overrated and really didn't like it, specially action sequences (I think I am in a minority here) at least is a serious movie. I prefer The Wolverine (another Mangold film), a more solid film. 3:10 to Yuma is a good western too. And is curious couple of weeks ago I revisited Copland. Has little script issues but the directing part is quite good.
Mangold have a solid directing part so is interesting to see what he will do. As always, the script is very important, and the retro style too.

i've enjoyed all 4 movies released since Disney took the reigns, and i look forward to this one.

Why should anyone insult you? Is it a kink or yours?

 

This can go a couple of ways, setting wise. It's set in the same time frame as Solo, allowing for some cross-overs there. Or it's set after RotJ (so he survives the Sarlacc, as a recent Lego set suggests).

As TPTB are slowly opening up the time frame after RotJ, that last one might be possible, showing us a time after the Empire's downfall, with characters like Fett taking advantage of a galaxy that's struggling to rebuild.

Anyhoo, wasn't there talk of a bounty hunter team up film? This could very well be it. If so, give it a minute or two before people are gonna scream "Suicide Squad in space..."

 

Great news that he's on board on this one & the Boba Fett story can now begin.

 

Couple of random thoughts:

1) Personally, I probably would've preferred Boba as a minor character in a different film, but I also would've said the same thing about Han a few months ago. If the story's there, it could be great.

2) You don't get to say that you don't want a Boba movie because he did nothing in the original trilogy- this is your chance to see him do something, amigo...

3) Temura is probably too old now. He'd still make a great Rex, though.


4. Daniel Logan would be pretty good now, though


5) Again, even though I'm not quite sold on the idea yet, Mangold is incredibly talented, and if anyone could do this film justice it's him.

 

About Daniel Logan, seems like a fun guy at conventions and such. However, it appears he's going full Jeremy Bulloch/ David Prowse in identifying with the character in real life, even wearing the ESB armor of Fett at conventions.
I don't mean to talk bad about him (or Bulloch and Prowse for that matter), but seeing his acting credentials on IMDB, combined with him almost expecting to be Boba Fett from now on, might set him up for disappointment. Especially if TPTB are taking Fett in new and unseen places.

 

Maybe.

And that's kind of another issue entirely- in that I could still see Logan portray the character, if not only because Fett wouldn't require much acting to begin with.

Which again, may not make for a great lead.

If they did do this, they'd be wise to do something like the "new" Mad Max, where Max is there still, and still stoic and badass, but Furiosa really takes on the brunt of the acting.

 

I want the Great Hunt! Give me a Bounty Hunter Battle Royale! Great opportunity to get all kinds of bounty hunters on screen too.
