SPOILER Mandalorian S1E5

The Outer Rim seems to be pretty empty with little things to happen and little business outgoing. The galaxy is old, and hyperspace exist since long time, there is no need to rush colonizing the planets. The citizens of the republic / empire / etc. had been robed since thousands of years by crime syndicates, corporations, republicans and empires. They are poor, cannot afford to travel on themselves, therefore big movement of people happens only if sponsored by corporations/governments or if they are running from some big disaster. Population of the galaxy has been exhausted of wars and exploitation. Colonizing planets without mineral resources or anything else which can be extracted and exploited make no sense for the corporations. So planets like Arvala-7, Tatooine, Jakku, Navarro, etc. are left on their own, which makes them suitable as a hideout, criminals, fugitives, mandalorians, everyone who is on a run and limited on resources and just need to stop somewhere - he usually go there. But there are not just a few planets, there are probably hundreds or thousands of planets like that. Which makes them also attractive for bounty hunters. Let's not forget, the galaxy is huge, so huge that no map contains all of the planets and no spaceship navi computer or astromech droid can hold it entirely. Do you remember Camino, old and advanced civilization with advanced sentient species it was not even on the map. On the other side of this you have Corelia, Coruscant, Kuat, and more in the core are massively overpopulated, entire planet surface covert in constructs, shipping docs build in space and surrounding the entire planet. Nature completely controlled or destroyed, polluted, exploited until the rest bit of mineral is extracted. The population exploited as slave workforce. Many of them full of crime syndicates and illegal activities. But living there is good only for few, the rest probably dream to collect some cash and run to the outer rim Owning a spacecraft is solution for many, since they can escape and travel from planet to planet. Yet this is also relatively expensive, relatively because spacecrafts there cost as much as old cars on Earth, you can buy an old freighter for ~10k credits, while a brand new starfighter may be be around 130k credits. Somewhat analogues to Earth food may be very cheap or very expensive depending on where you purchase it. Guns are totally cheap there too, something like nowadays Syria or Somalia, good rifle or pistol cost less than 500 credits or a good chicken

 

Or the budget for the show is just to low to hire enough extras and create new planets. Remember how populated Mos Eisley was at the end of ROTJ.

 

The budget is probably limited, I would not say too small or maybe even big enough, as you probably know all of those shows have somewhat limited budget, you name it - Expanse, Dark Matter, Kiljoys , etc. In any case Disney wants to exploit the franchise, which is normal of course, so they must keep an eye on budgets and incomes ...

I don't think that the budget is the problem with The Mandalorian. I think those planets are shown to re-force the union with the previous Star Wars movies. So to say for the fans to enjoy those planets once more. and of course they have to create new story lines, characters, spaceships and items which can become potential merchandise or new movies, or things in their themed parks

 

Do we really need to have our hands held that much. I am tired of boring old Tatooine. We have a series coming in year or 2 that 90% of it will be on Tatooine. My real thought is since Navarro and Tatooine really only have a different color palate they created one group of sets/assets and simply digitally change the colors slightly. More tan for Tatooine and more grey for Navarro.

 

I really hope that will not be true ...

I personally don't mind Tatooine, I enjoyed the scene with the spider bikes, and the scene with Fennec.

I also don't mind Nevarro or Navarro ... in the same time I think the place had served its purpose and showing it again will not bring much. Anyway I think we are going to see Navarro again, because there is a scene in the trailer which we didn't saw up to now.

One last thought about those desert planets and their settlements which are not so different - those are easy to create on Earth as themed parks, so one possibility is that they show them again to draw interest in future themed parks which Disney will create. Planet like Sorgan with forest, swamp and krill ponds in village like Omera will be much more difficult to create in a themed park.

Dengar and Boba Fett don't wear capes so next Friday the mystery will be revealed. I have to admit with the OB1 series on the horizon we'll be getting allot of Tatooine. No prob for me cuz ANH is my favorite that's why I enjoyed this episode... KRAYT DRAGONS PLZZZ

 

The wait til next episode is soooo long and life is boring.
So we have plenty of time to "investigate".

Ok people. We need to find a guy. Look for magazines, newspapers, movies and tv shows, old material, books, photos, behind the scenes and diccionaries. Find old archives and connect all the clues. All you have, use it. Don't sleep. Ask at local stores and kill if you have to. We need to put a figure on this boot. It's all we got. This and a cape. So let's get to work. Come on guys! You can do it!

 

Yet the 1st theme park they created is Forrest and mountain like area. Cant be that difficult. Then you have Animal Kingdom with all sorts of terrain including Pandora. Honestly dont want to go to some dingy sandy theme park. Also harder to keep people cool in terrain with no trees to create any shade. I assume they didnt venture far from Los Angeles for shots off set. Still they could head into the forests of California or travel a little. Hell go to Kansas for wheat fields and call it Lothal, better then yet another Desert shoot.

 

DUDE, live life to the fullest! there is so much to do. Time flys next week is 6 days away. Life is exciting...

Sure it is not a real desert, yet it is nothing special as climate or flora. Can be anywhere near big cities wit temperate climate. This one in particular is in California, and enjoys Subtropical climate, summer there must be really hot.

I worked last night, then went straight to the gym, and the dojo... dude. haha

I work as a Correction Officer, so I got allot of down time watching crooks plus I'm fortunate that I got a good post.

Boba Fett will be apprehended... hihi

I work as developer ( development engineer ) for software modules done in C++ ... not that much fun as your job dude.

 

More pictures of the new ship. The ship is bigger than Razor Crest but a bit less spacey as it is more like a heavy star-fighter/bomber than a troop transport. Most probably it is also faster and more agile.

The cockpit looks somewhat similar to f1 cars from 50s and 60s. Engines cowling (front side) looks also interesting, I am sure that I have seen this shape somewhere just can't remember where.

 

Ironically, I got injured putting down some crooks so I'm on light duty right now working in IT Support any issues regarding PC I solve with the help of the techs... I understand as an engineer your job might not be that exciting

The more I think about it the more I wonder if this is the character played by Giancarlo Esposito?

There's going to be a lot of people disappointed when they realize that figure isn't Boba. Personally, I'm glad he is not in the show. Let him stay dead as intended.
