I assumed it was pre-recorded but that is an interesting thought. In the first Vader arc we saw the Emperor had an interest in cyborg technology. Maybe this is some sort of AI created in his image. I hope we get more than that. If not, I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up in Aftermath or if they do another Shattered Empire run.

I'm beginning to share the same thought about your SPOILER.

It looks like this is the first invasion of naboo, and since in lost stars the third was defeated, I think naboo will be fine.

I enjoyed the issue overall, the most jarring thing was the switch in artists partway through. I always hate when they do that in comics, unless there is a good reason such as different artists doing different time periods or dream states or something like that, this on the other hand was probably due to the rushed release schedule of the comic. The second artist was good, however the coloring left much to be desired though, Leia in particular looked like a porcelain doll. Art complaints aside though, I honestly don't have any complaints regarding the story, the Emperor story line in particular has tons of potential, can't wait for the next issue!

I thought Leia looked farrrrr and away better than she did in "Star Wars: Leia" earlier this year.

That's a given ;)(I've never liked how Terry Dodson draws his women to begin with), but I she still didn't look quite right in this issue, just kind of off, which I blame on the coloring.

Naboo in general was drawn a little bit eerily. Like it was a darker place than the films depicted - the lighting was beautiful but strange. I think that was a deliberate sort of 'pathetic fallacy', foreboding what was to come and symbolising what had come before. But I was stoked on Leia in the hanger. Could even be different print runs, or from different printing presses. I work in graphic design and different technologies and different technicians can bring out different aspects to the colouration. Usually too subtle to notice at a glance, but if you concentrate...

I am definitely looking forward to issue #4. Rucka also compares Luke to Qui-Gon Jinn in how they are both calm.

Great review, as always, @Kyle. I gotta say, the switch in artists kinda bummed me out. Leia looks to have her skin smoothed out and way too pale. The art from the first half was crazy amazing, and hearing Poe was born was really surprising! He's some 30-something guy by TFA who has crazy skills and ties to the Rebellion! Seeing Naboo, as always, was great, but they scars they feel having been the home of Palpatine did show with the lighting and stuff. Seeing how the decoys mentioned in Aftermath were used in the comics was pretty cool, and I'm betting that wasn't even a recording of him, but some crazed decoy. Lost Stars does mention Naboo, so even though this is a spoiler, Naboo is well after 3 attempts by the Empire. The thing we don;t know is how this new weapon hurts the planet! Gonna read the next one right now!
