No they turned an awesome silent assassin into a monologuing and cliched villain. I have no problem that they brought him back but the way he was portrayed was horrendous.

Maul was not that is what made him cool. He was an assassin. He did not waste time talking with Jinn and Kenobi. He just fired up his awesome dual saber and went after them.

Clone Wars was very much aimed at adults as well. Maul murdered Kenobi's girlfriend right in front of him. So being aimed at kids was not the problem with Maul.

That was pretty awful. There are only a few Clone Wars arcs I do not enjoy and every one that had Maul in it did not do if for me at all.

Depends on how you look at it. When Savage Opress found him with spider legs I thought it was pretty silly, but once he gets a full body back, I like how he had a much bigger role than he did in TPM.

The Lawless when he stabs Satine and she dies in Obi's arms, that goes and shows you that Maul is capable of doing something that can bring out real emotion, and for some reason I was more affected by that scene than the death of Qui-Gon.

Now that is proof that CW was meant for an older audience, because there has been a lot of arguments that people think it's for kids because not enough people die, for example: Grievous doesn't kill any Jedi in this series, but does he have to for this to be an adult show? No he doesn't. CW has a lot of dark moments an that's what made me enjoy it.

Anyway, yeah I agree with some of these posts here, when they find him, it's crazy. I was surprised they decided that he would still be alive because I found it to be impossible for someone to survive being cut in half. Unless he crawled towards trash barely alive when he reached the bottom of that hole and stuck himself to it until he could get legs back.

The reveal of him in spider legs in that planet made no sense at all, no explanation was given and the character didn't feel like him at all, I hated it.

That said, he DID get a lot better and I loved how he became so powerful again by taking over the Black Sun, and I was happy he was back.

I've always wanted him back and we got to see him being awesome again, but his re-introduction was as hard to watch as Attack of the Clones.

You know, every time someone brings back a dead villain, it's a bit silly and it undermines the efforts and sacrifices that went into killing them. However I think it was worth it here, because they have done some great things with Maul afterwards. They needed a nemesis for Obi-Wan to get some real struggle and emotion from him. And they could just bring him as a threat he was in TPM, but they did something much better with him - they made him an actual character with his own desires and fears and agenda. He had his own episodes, where you actually cared about him and somehow sympatized with him a bit. Which sounds like someone else than the quiet assassin in TPM, but that's alright, he's 10 years older and some blast happened to him..Watching him rise from desparate madness to building his own criminal empire was great and his revenge to Obi-Wan was one of the most emotional moments in the show, changing both of them..
And than Sidious took everything from him in the coolest fight scene!

Yeah, and his going to show up in Rebels!

Although I initially thought that Maul was killed off WAY too soon, he ultimately (to me) was a disposable character, and I imagine that he was designed that way, but I thought it was executed too soon. As far as his return...no. I wasn't impressed with seeing him as "Maul-Cyborg" and literally rolled my eyes...didn't like it.

What was worse yet for me, is that they made him CRAZY and it almost seemed like filler material. Don't get me wrong, I liked Maul, and thought that he potentially had a good backstory (or something) but they killed him too soon, and did (IMHO) a lousy job of bring him back....didn't work for me.

For me Maul's return was good, I wondered what would have happened to him once he hit the ground of that bottomless pit, to endlessly fall should not have been is remembered final demise.

Darth Maul was sliced in two... his comeback was a complete shock to me and looked like a blatant opportunity at pushing the characters longevity... and some outright fan service!!!
