Finding this thread makes me sad... so many have left, or gone dorment.

Some will eventually return in March... may not be all, but some... Mando S3. ep. 1... who can resist Grogu, or rather BABYODA.

Life has been a bit strange recently, a rollercoaster ride. Things going well, things going bad.
And I feel kinda guilty not posting much, but I want too.

Hey everyone! I was told a few months back I was added on this thread as one of the missing. Glad to hear you all still thought about me while I was gone. To be honest, I left the fandom in a really depressed place. I never gave up on Star Wars content, but the real world politics and vitriol leaked heavily in the last 3-4 years since TROS into every single discussion and it became less about enjoying Star Wars and more about the other stuff that never truly mattered. I took a break. I walked away from this fandom and really didn’t care. I watched Star Wars literally alone. I had to remind myself that the stories will always be bigger than the negativity surrounding it. I have made great memories in the last 9 years on SWNN, I hosted the podcast for almost 4 years for all of your enjoyment from 2015-2018. I don’t want that to go to waste. I see this community as always a place for fun Star Wars fans to gather together and it’s less about the real world and more about the enjoyment or at least open, honest conversations. Without this community I would have never seen Solo with @Lord Phanatic in person or got to banter for hours into your ear holes for a few hours every week on the pod. So thank you for always being a beacon of fun from the very beginning. You all will never truly understand how much that means. Whether you are long time lifers like @Lock_S_Foils or @LadyMusashi or someone who just joined into this community, you all are definitely super awesome. I hope to be more active starting this year in more community discussions, so keep an eye peeled on the forums. You may just see my name on a bunch of replies again sooner rather than later.

It's the best of this thread when people mentioned here start coming back. No one's ever really gone.

 

In my book, it depends on a couple things. 1) Content that stirs up the passion; and 2) a community of posters who share that passion.

I was a big-time Star Wars fanboy and poster at the beginning of the internet era and -- like everybody else -- couldn't wait for the release of TPM. Nothing will ever match the intensity of Star Wars message boards back then -- and all the special friendships were formed that summer.

But like @Ganon136, I walked away. I watched the prequels but the passion had left me. While I liked TFA, the passion I felt for Star Wars back in the OT days returned when I watched Season 1 of The Mandalorian. Now its deja vu all over again and The Cantina has become a great place to share my enthusiasm with a bunch of like-minded folks. We might not always agree (which is fine) but we all share the same passion. And whatever the reason behind a shared passion might be, that kind of community is special and should be treasured.

 

Star Wars TV has definitely been a fun experience. Mostly Mando and Andor. We are in a much better place now than even 4-6 years ago. Still have to wait for Star Wars to hit the big screen. I’m hoping for the best, but we have to wait patiently.
