No, they're reasserting their stance that the reviews from 5 years ago were a great definitive analysis, and these shill articles and crackpot theories don't even begin to scratch at that.

In case you haven't noticed, the "Finn didn't get infected by hog water" stuff quickly gives away to real criticism - it was for entertainment, to get a rise out of etc., but then substance ensued.

This didn't happen in the clickbait segment - which greatly undermined the intended conclusion.

I like some of what Plinkett says about how the plot with the strong and stable new republic making the same mistakes the empire made as a military based government, but they definitely wouldn't build a weapon that blows up whole planets! That has tyranny written all over it which could only be the Empire/New order in a clear cut good vs evil film SW has always been.. That said, they could figure a way where the New republic is once again crumbling under the leaderships of evil doers like Palpatine and Jedi/senator Leia has to fight back with the resistance. OR what about having a Mandalore army join the first order and Knights of Ren to dismantle the new republic? This all would have been fresh story and made it easier to get Han, Luke and Leia a bit more involved together without over shadowing our new characters.

The number one problem with Plinkett's "Episode VII Pitch" is that we are already asking actors in their 60s/70s to play characters in their 50s/60s. Plinkett wants actors in their 60s/70s to play chatacters in their late 40s/ late 50s(assuming Bloodline is still in play). There comes a point where you stretch plausability and there comes a point where you break it.
That's before we even begin to talk about Plinkett proposing we make a strange clone of RotS.. A movie everyone saw only 11 years ago.. and one he spent 2 hours dismantling only 5 years ago..
Belated Media's "Starmap" proposal runs.. wait for it.. rings around Plinkett's "Jurassic Park Prequel" idea. :p

As far as your proposals on how the fall of the new republic goes, I do have one of my own. New World Order... Leads to No World Order. There is no "Republic". Luke must build his academy amidst the backdrop of a rebellion that could win the war but lost the peace. It's reflective of both Sengoku Jidai and what happened in many parts of the world after the end of colonialism following WW2. The first order emerges a the dark unifier, similar to the Oda Clan or Communism, depending on your time period. Leia manages to patch together a 'Resistance' against this dark unifier, akin to the various resistance Oda Nobunaga faced and jungle wars of the mid/late 20th century. This insurgency is bankrolled by, of all peoples, the Hutts, as they view the first order as a mutual threat.
This is what I was thinking back in 2014 on what the backdrop of the galaxy should look like.

Super cool! You wouldn't add the Mandalorian Army though since the old republic isn't canon yet, I feel that could be a different, massive threat that the First Order would try to team with. A giant Calamarian base on Coruscant is attacked by the Mandalorians.. And the dark Jedi are started by Ben Solo under the command of a Snoke..

Well, I.. I thought it best to leave the Mandolorian status an open one. I did think Coruscant should be seen at some point in the trilogy looking like Aleppo. Kyoto was in ruins through much of the Sengoku Jidai.
