My childhood revolved around 3 things: Arcades, Star Wars and Van Halen.
Consoles killed the arcades, Disney happened and now the great, legendary rock god Eddie Van Halen passed away.

    It's official, 2020 really sucks.

Star Wars is doing pretty well though methinks, I mean I don't like the new trilogy much but outside of that I either love or like most of the "new" stuff. I do have strong concerns about where the franchise might be going under Disney, but on the other hand they've also produced some of (in my opinion) the best SW content ever.

Nonetheless I feel your pain, especially regarding EVH. That is sad news.

Loved arcades growing up. a couple of quarters and I was off to the "Space Port" in Oxford Valley Mall in PA.....great times.
EVH was incredible talent....grew up during the beginning of MTV, freshman in college the first year of MTV, so EVH...yeah...wow
Star Wars is Star Wars and I love it all.....

My older brother aways had poundcake and Van Halen on repeat back when we were kids... I wouldn't say childhood is dead now just because Eddie ist dead, the music lives on.

I'm 27 and I have still never heard a Van Halen song, I've just only heard of the band.

Yeah maybe, I've worked out to 1980s music. Growing up, my parents wouldnt let me listen to that kind of "garbage" in Texas

I'm curious as to why your parent's considered that kind of music as "garbage". Were they hard core country music listeners then?

Gotcha! I was just wondering, because I'm also from Texas and I know country music is/was a big deal here.

Sad to read that. My childhood was video games, Lego, movies and 2 Unlimited. So, it's 50/50 for me.

Yeah it sucks alright. And no doubt there are plenty of lousy remakes and reboots to kill what little is left of our childhoods.

    For real.

Legends canon still exists for those that want it, and even the new stuff has given us some great nods to Legends stuff (we recently saw an incredible reimagining of the KOROR Krayt Dragon battle, for one).

I'm sorry, but y'all really shouldn't let new things ruin your old memories. Compartmentalize, people.
