New Ahsoka Behind-the-Scenes Footage Revealed; Natasha Liu Bordizzo Teases Complex Sabine-Ahsoka Dynamics at the Beginning of the Series

Lucasfilm has revealed a brand-new featurette that spotlights Rosario Dawson's journey to becoming Ahsoka, from the initial online campaign to her episode in The Mandalorian to now the upcoming series. While no new footage from the series appears in the 90-second clip, in the second half of the video we get to see new behind-the-scenes moments captured while shooting the series.

We were supposed to get a new look at the show during the Fourth of July weekend, at the Essence Festival of Culture, but that never happened. We don't know if this is what we would have gotten that day, but regardless, we are around the time when we should expect a new trailer to drop imminently.



In related news, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren) spoke to SFX Magazine about the series, teasing that her character will have some complex character interactions with Ahsoka by the time they meet again at the beginning of the series. She said:

Both Dawson and Bordizzo have talked before about their respective missions in the series, and how they are aligned but also clash with one another. In the narrative, we know that Ahsoka is focused on hunting down Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), while Sabine wants to live up to the promise she made Ezra (Eman Esfandi) at the end of Star Wars: Rebels. Ezra and Thrawn went missing at the end of the fourth season of the animated show, and Sabine and Ahsoka reunited during the epilogue to go look for them. That is the story of the upcoming series.



Ahsoka is coming out on Disney Plus on August 23.
