    Yes, I didn't catch it in my first couple viewings, but even the Stormtrooper who alerts Ren about sensors going off in hangar bay (insert number here) after Rey had escaped, was a female.

    One of the big ones for me, would be the in atmosphere fighter battles, as opposed to the normal space battles. The closet we got to in atmosphere air battles in the previous films was Anikan crash landing the cruiser at the beginning of ROS.

    I started to say this, but I couldn't remember if the battle of Naboo was in orbit or if some of it took place in the atmosphere. Then I wasn't sure if the Battle on Hoth counted (since the Empire had Terrestrial vehicles instead of aerial).

    I can't recall seeing spaceships dogfighting in daylight atmosphere before (but I may be mistaken).

    While my heads in the clouds I may as well mention the controversial chopper/drone roaming aerial shots and hyperspace reverse angles. I'd trade them for swipe nostalgia at the moment but am open to them growing on me - with a little more time.
