I don't get why don't play it save and use the soundtrack of the PT? What's with that generic music? It lacks the SW magic...

Feel the force nowwwww. Getting strong nowwww. da na naaaah... na na naaah.

I hope her real dad was not Toby Kenobi. The story of her as the grand daughter of evil fits the myth.

Maybe it contributes to the sensation of feeling lost and disconnected. Hopefully they will go big on the music at the end.

The series is half over. Going fast. 3 of 6 episodes, right?

Absolutely brutal. Man I felt so bad for Obi Wan when he was burning, and hearing Vader say he created him.. what a nightmarish turn of events.

Another great episode, again the editing felt slightly off at times. Maybe they could have brought John Williams in to compose another theme for the duel.. but it was very solid overall.

While eeprom made his comment in jest (and it was a good one!), "Rocky' was the film that came to my mind after we watched Obi-wan's 'underwhelming' duel with Vader in this episode.

In the original Rocky, the movie opens inside a crappy smoke-filled arena where Rocky is fighting some bum while people are booing and throwing things into the ring. This set the stage for his fight later in the film against the heavyweight champion of the world, Apollo Creed (known in another galaxy as Greef Karga). In our story, it's all about a Master Jedi regaining his former 'mojo' and returning to the ring to square-off, toe to toe, against Darth Vader. For their next fight to truly mean something special, I believe Debra Chow had to give us this one first.

What I don't understand is this: Vader put out the fire, and then said: Bring him to me. Obviously he wanted to capture him, and this is why he ordered the troopers to ... bring Obi to him. Then, a fire breaks out, Obi escapes, and Vader just looks at the fire which he easily put out before. Given that he wanted to capture him, and told his troopers to do so, why did he let him go ?

My guess is that Vader had spent years obsessing over the prospect of facing off against his former master again -- and was shocked by how weak and beaten down Obi-wan had become since they last met.

Given that, my take is that he made a spur-of-the-moment decision to TOY WITH HIM and savor the deliciousness of his revenge a little while longer.

This sounds logical, but that would be easier to accomplish by capturing him -as he wanted and ordered- than letting him go. If you want to torture someone, toy with him, etc, you don't let him escape; on the contrary, you capture him. I don't see how letting Obi escape let Vader toy with him more than capturing him.

Obviously it's just a coincidence, but after all the complaining last week about Leia, Reva and the chase scenes, ending the episode abruptly with Reva chasing Leia was pretty hilarious.

I understand where you're coming from. It would have been easy for Vader to simply walk across the fire himself.

But given what we got, I'm going with the notion that Vader viewed Obi-wan as a mere mouse he's trapped inside a maze. Instead of ending it immediately, he'd rather amuse himself watching the mouse frantically scurry around in the maze because he knows Kenobi isn't going anywhere. It's super-easy for me to believe in my explanation when Ewan McGregor is doing such an incredible job of portraying a emotionally-shattered, broken man.

Ewan is incredible. I watch the episodes again and again just to see all the subtle and not so subtle expressions. Incredible.

For Vader...I just watched the scene once again. Perhaps there is a different approach to it. The camera as well as Hayden pause. Everyone is standing completely still. This can be viewed as effort to convey to us that Vader is actually contemplating at that moment. As to what ? Many things, and not torture. Perhaps he is thinking of Padme, his fall, etc. Perhaps, he just doesn't want to kill Obi because by doing so there is no one left from his old life.

I mean Anakin and Vader were never the waiting indecisive guys. They think fast, and act fast. Watching Anakin/Vader holding still means that something actually big is going on in their head.

I know it's a joke, but I could see that being a future arc for Rey. A character who wants to do good but is naturally drawn towards evil, recognizing that they have both within them and must accept and confront it...it worked for Shang-Chi and Zuko...

Anyways, I finally saw the episode! I liked it, but I didn't love it for some reason. The reunion went about as well as the show could and should have made it, and seeing Vader go Stealth Mode was pretty amusing. Kenobi trying to run and being forced to confront Vader was good for him and for us. It was weirdly hilarious and enjoyable.

Also, this episode both proved and alleviated my problems with our heroes' victory in the second episode. Here, Kenobi's abilities are shown and he escapes not due to the incompetence of our villains, but the competence of other heroes. (Although now I'm just going to keep a running tab of the times in her life where Leia has sent someone to search for a Ben and they die or fail.) Likewise, our villains win not because of luck, but because of their skill and aptitude. I was mad at Reva capturing Leia, but it was because I want our heroes to win at the end of the day (which they will), not because she didn't deserve that victory. Reva swept the town, investigated a lead, and beat Leia to the end - she earned that victory.

Other things - the cinematography is still very good. Deborah Chow was a great choice and has done some very impressive work. Her hand-to-hand fight choreography could be a little better (there are a lot of camera switches), but every other aspect of the fight scenes is good.

Leia's continuing to play a part. I guess that makes sense, but I sort of wanted her gone so we could focus on Obi-Wan, not get Lone Wolf & Cub Part 3. Seriously, nearly every Star Wars show on D+ has a jaded cynical mentor and a plucky kid-sidekick thing going on. This show may be the last time they can get away with it for a while.

Sad Kenobi is now reminding me of Logan. I hated Logan. I doubt this show will trigger me as much as Logan did, but it's getting close due to recent events. I also have a low tolerance of the "Cynical Old Man Who Finds His Optimism Again When on an Adventure With a Young Child, Preferably His Daughter/Son or Young Family Member" stories nowadays. And yes, blame Logan.

Also, QUINLAN VOS IS ALIVE BABY!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
(Outside of me genuinely liking the character, he was a main character in my Kenobi trilogy. He was going to be a smuggler. Siri Tachi was going to be an Inquisitor that teamed up with Kenobi and Vos, each of them representing a way to look at the Jedi path after Order 66. Kenobi was the one who still kept the faith, Siri Tachi was the one who became an Inquisitor and was determined to erase that past and all vestiges of it, and Quinlan was to be a smuggler who gave up on it all, refused to get involved, and moved on.)

I'm sure I'll have more thoughts, but for now it was a nice halfway point, and I'm curious to where we'll go next.

My reading was that Vader had found Kenobi after all this time, so he's not worried about doing so again. He's trapped on-planet and has nowhere to really run to. Leia has been captured (which I'm sure he'll hear about soon), and Obi-Wan is weak and injured. There's no harm. I also sort of figured that Vader wanted to turn Kenobi into an Inquisitor, so capturing him was the better course of action.

When Vader first starts torturing Kenobi, he keeps a little bit of distance between himself and the flames. But when Tala sets the rest of the fuel(?) ablaze Darth seems to be repulsed by the heat. Who can blame him?

I'm completely fine with Vader having mini kryptonites like fire, steam.... and sand

I just hope George is able to sit at home in his personal theater with a perfectly heated and buttered bowl of popcorn, grinning ear to ear.

I have a few questions about choices, but am thrilled to have this time, with this story.

You lost me when you said, you hate Logan... films are subjective, so I get it! :D

On another note: Is Reva the new Grand Inquisitor now? If so, does anyone still think the Grand Inquisitor with 2 stomachs will make a return? (with 3 episodes left to this limited series)

Vader's Castle!!! OMG... nuff said... hehe

After reading several post, must watch episode 3 again, working long hours missed some of nuances, just got up must watch with fresh eyes...

    Better work in this one.
I think that guy called Vader stole the show. Maybe he deserves his own show one day.

Meh. Worst episode so far. The suspension of disbelief was broken several times throughout the episode, and I found most of the action, setpieces and dialogue to be quite underwhelming.

Firstly, I get that stormtroopers are supposed to be stupid but the whole hitchhiking scene was ridiculous. They had strict orders to look for a Jedi with a little girl, and Obi-Wan's face on holograms was already making rounds around the galaxy. Are they blind? Secondly, why is it that none of the other Inquisitors are questioning where the Grand Inquisitor is? Morever, the episode implies that Vader might know he's dead already since he's saying that the position of Grand Inquisitor is open. And if Vader knows, does the other Inquisitors know it too? Do they even care? So many continuity errors here.
Lastly, I get that Reva is force-sensitive and all but how the HECK did she know EXACTLY which shop to enter to find the hidden tunnels? If the filmmakers had shown Reva noticing something sketchy going on in the shop it would've worked, but now she's just randomly entering this shop and hits the jackpot right away. Additionally, it's ridiculous for her to show up at the other end of the tunnel and wait for Leia. Lol, did she teleport?

People who praise this episode are definitely blinded by Vader's presence. Sure, it's Vader and he's cool, but if all you got showing off is Vader then you've failed in my opinion. To be frank, I found the interactions between Vader and Obi-Wan to be quite underwhelming, there was just something about it that felt "off". Perhaps it was the lack of dialogue and impactful music, cheap location and luminescent lightning that made it feel like a fan film. And not a good one at that. When you've seen fan films such as SC 38 Reimagined doing a better job than a multibillion company, you can't help but wonder - why?

A smaller complaint, I don't get why Obi-Wan is scolding at Leia in such an aggressive tone for no real reason. They way he told her "Because all people are not good Leia!" felt so out of character. He came off as passive aggressive towards her, and never once in the OT, PT or Clone Wars have I seen Obi-Wan behave like that. I get that this version of Obi-Wan is supposed to be a broken man suffering from PTSD, but for me his behavior feels out of place.

Positives: The Mustafar scene was okay I guess.
