SPECULATION Official BB-9 and BB-8 Episode VIII thread

This thread should also showcase the BLIPS cartoons that starwars.com puts out. They are fun.

 

I don't think BB-9 will have a huge role, but it seems to be with Kylo, though who actually owns it, I don't know.

 

It's probably Kylo's. It's an astromech droid, so it will probably serve as a copilot. And Kylo is more likely to fly than Phasma.
What I'm really curious about is BB9's "voice". Can they make the cute beeps of BB8 sound "evil" for this version? Maybe BB9 is completely silent, that would work because it would make it very creepy.

Maybe Rose. The Hasbro Rose FO disguise figure has been leaked. She comes with BB-8 and BB-9E

 

They created something cooler than the R2 units for the ST. I loved bb-8 and I am glad that will we see more BB units in the movie. They design is so cool.

I guess we wont see Bb-9 to much in the movie but I think he is related to Kylo.

 

In Aftermath one of the interludes is a soldier reporting for therapy. As of his recovery he is paired with a droid. A ball with a rectangle on top. DJ might be a combat vet and he might have a PTSD companion droid.

 

I'm not the only one getting a Wall-E feel (and sound) from the blips, right? And that head jump BB-8 does sound a lot like the PIXAR lamp hopping about...

Back on topic, given how well received BB-8 was in TFA, it'll be interesting to see how RJ treated his darkly painted cousin in TLJ. He's already said BB-8 will more or less be the Buster Keaton of the film (perhaps tongue-in-cheek, but I'm expecting a smart continuation of its comedic bits in TFA). Will he also provide light moments of humour, perhaps by reacting to Kylo/TFO? Or perhaps even being grumpier and belittling of stormtroopers if it does indeed turn out to be Kylo's BB unit?

 

No, you're not. In my opinion BB-9E sounds quite like Eve. Also, while I was rewatching Wall-E this week that Sequel Trilogy shares a lot of similarities in terms of how the world sounds and how it looks like. Thess similarities become quite obvious when you watch the credits - Wall-E's sound designer is none other than Ben Burtt. Moreover, Denis Muren and ILM have also done some work on Wall-E, what explains similar artstyles of both.

I can definitely see a scene where BB-8 tries to befriend BB-9E and BB-9E scolds him for trying. It's going to try so hard to seem evil.

 

I would love a humorous moment between them in the movie, and since they mirror each other it would also be like a parody of Rey and Kylo Ren.

Maybe that's the unexpected romance John was talking about, that Rian added as not being on par with Han/Leia. I'm not even joking. I could see Rian doing this. It would also be typical for a Disney movie.
