The Acolyte Official Trailer and Poster Released, Episodic Directors and Two-Episode Premiere Confirmed

    As promised yesterday, Lucasfilm has released the official trailer for The Acolyte. The series, which hails from showrunner Leslye Headland, will start airing on Disney Plus on Tuesday, June 4, 6pm PT/9pm ET, with the first two episodes.

    Lucasfilm also confirmed today the directors for each of the episodes:


    • Leslye Headland: episodes 1-2
    • Kogonada: episodes 3 and 7
    • Alex Garcia Lopez: episodes 4-5
    • Hanelle Culpepper: episodes 6 and 8


    The names for the main characters have also been revealed, as well as the first character details:


    • Amandla Stenberg plays Mae, who gets swept up into a sinister mystery—one that puts her into the center of a conflict in unexpected ways.
    • Lee Jung-jae plays Master Sol, a wise, highly respected, powerful Jedi Master, strong in the ways of the Force, who is going through emotional conflict.
    • Manny Jacinto plays Qimir, a former smuggler who now makes his living as a trader, procuring unusual things and enjoying a life of leisure.
    • Carrie-Anne Moss plays Master Indara, a Jedi Master of great physical and mental skill.
    • Dean Charles Chapman plays Master Torbin.
    • Joonas Suotamo plays Jedi Master Kelnacca, a loner who lives a solitary life.
    • Jodie Turner-Smith plays Mother Aniseya, the leader of a coven of Witches who value their independence and the preservation of their beliefs and powers.
    • Charlie Barnett plays Yord Fandar, a Jedi Knight and guardian from the Jedi Temple, is an overachiever and a rule follower. His need to be a by-the-book Jedi can cloud his mind.
    • Dafne Keen plays  Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon, the Padawan apprentice to Master Sol. Although she is young, she projects calm and conducts herself with maturity.
    • Rebecca Henderson plays Vernestra Rwoh, an elder Jedi Master who has ascended the ranks of the Jedi from a teenage prodigy to a leader in the Order.


    The story is set 100 years before The Phantom Menace, at the tail end of the High Republic. A new synopsis for the show was also revealed this week, which contains our first character details:



    Leslye Headland, Jason Micallef, Charmaine DeGraté, Jasmyne Flournoy, Eileen Shim, Claire Klechel, Kor Adana, Cameron Squires, Jocelyn Bioh, and Jen Richards are writing for the show. Headland, Micallef, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Kathleen Kennedy are executive producers. DeGraté and Adana are co-executive producers, and Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producers. Michael Abels has been confirmed to score.
