Only a year to go! Hopefully we get the Teaser Trailer this month! And we also have Star Wars Land at Disneyland and Walt Disney World to tie us over until Dec 20 2019!

I still think they should of left Solo in December. It would be interesting to see how better or worse the film would of done.

That's a very interesting point. I enjoyed Solo for what it was, but maybe with a few extra months of reshoots and editing it could have been that much better?
If we don't get a teaser trailer this month i'd settle for just a title for the movie. But my guess is that they will drop something before Christmas (either teaser trailer or movie title) to give families something to buzz about and share/make plans to see it with next year. It's a smart marking plan.

Hard to believe we're already at Episode IX, exciting yet bittersweet. I can remember trying to scrimp up every detail possible in the year or 2 leading up to VII, now here we are counting down til the final chapter. Like I said, exciting yet bittersweet. Hope JJ knocks it out of the park.

Looking forward to seeing what JJ has in store for us! The sequels get a lot of flack, but I have been very happy with all the new movies, so I'm hoping for another crowd pleaser like TFA to finnish up the trilogy.
This. The time leading up to The Force Awakens is a memory that is going to stick with me for the rest of my life I think.

I'm not expecting much. JJ never knew how to end something. Also didn't he say (paraphrasing)" I'm changing nothing about how 8 goes into 9 "?

Why should he change anything? He wants to tie together all the movies. I'm looking forward to JJ's EPIX. His movies are usually alot of fun.

Man, honestly, I’m nervous as hell for IX.

As much as I enjoyed TFA, and as much as I enjoyed TLJ (for the most part), I can’t deny that the overarching narrative of this trilogy has been somewhat botched up to this point. I don’t mean to say that anyone is in the wrong for their opinions about either film — like I said, I really enjoyed TFA and TLJ, and additionally, some of my favourite parts of the Saga fall into these films — but I do think that this is, in large part, why the sequel trilogy has been just so divisive amongst hardcore fans and casual moviegoers alike.

Case in point: we, the audience — old, young; hardcore, casual; — knew pretty much where the story would end up going from The Empire Strikes Back to Return of the Jedi, and from Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith. For the former, it was Han being saved, Luke having a rematch with Vader, and taking on The Emperor; for the latter, it was seeing the Clone Wars come to an end, and seeing Anakin ultimately become Darth Vader. Sure, there are a lot of beats missed out that we couldn’t guess ahead of time, but you get the gist: there was a clear direction that we were heading in.

And that’s the thing: I couldn’t really guess where this trilogy is going in general, which is both exciting (in the sense that, well, who doesn’t like a surprise?) and worrying (in the sense that both Star Wars trilogies before this had a clear direction, and that most great trilogies clearly have that great sense of direction throughout).

I just don’t know right now. Maybe the title reveal and first trailer change my mind entirely, but I’m nervous going into IX for all of the cast and crew, because I don’t think that they’re working with a sturdy foundation for this film. I’d like to think that they could pull it off, but at the same time, it does feel like there’s too much to wrap up in too little time: the fact that VII leads right up into VIII and that there isn’t then a time leap, in my opinion, only makes things harder for those involved, because they — in terms of the timeline — feel like one film.

On the other hand, I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the return of The Clone Wars, for more news on The Mandalorian, and news about RJ’s trilogy and Weiss & Benioff’s saga. 2019 might just be one of the most pivotal years in the galaxy far, far away since 1977.

I’m still clearly mixed on the ST as I like the individual movies but I’m not sold on the big picture arc of the Trilogy and how it ties in with the Saga Narrative.

It’s really interesting that when it is all said and done I could end up enjoying the ST movies but don’t feel they tie in as a 1-9 story. Where I ended up feeling the opposite towards the PT where I had major problems with the execution of the movies, yet I feel Lucas did a real good job of creating and interesting 1-6 narrative Saga arc.

So I’m not really worried about the quality of Episode 9 as I think JJ will deliver an entertaining movie. I’m just worried will the ST matter in a big picture sense when it stands next to the PT/OT?
