My only complaint is that the soundtrack version of Ways of the Force is missing the Binary Sunset, which was so powerful in the film.

Does anybody know where I could find the film version (YouTube maybe?), or where (min:sec) it should be in the soundtrack version, so I can recreate the film version?

Also, is the Forceback track missing from the release as well?

So much music is missing from Star Wars soundtracks going all the way back to ROTJ. It's a real shame. At least there's a little bit more here:

    http://waltdisneystudiosawards.com/#/star-wars/music

Using that version of Ways of the Force (is it different than the one on the official release?) the cue I think you're talking about is at 2:28ish.

Edit - or is it ~3:30?

At least they released expanded soundtracks for 1 and 4-6.

I can't tell which of those two spots is the one, as the movie version seems to have been replaced with one of those. The film version is a reuse of the moment when Luke finds Owen and Beru dead. It features heavy strings.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I'm not sure which of those two spots it is, either. It's one of them, though.

Star Wars and ESB, of course, had full double-album releases. But they stopped doing that from ROTJ on, though, like you said, there have been additional releases. The fact that there isn't such an expanded release for Eps 2 and 3 does not bode well for TFA.

    1:29 here:

I nearly cried when it played during the film. Very powerful moment. The "Skywalker!" moment, where the audience realizes who Rey really is.

Yeah, definitely sad that it doesn't look good for a second release.

It clearly was an edit for the film. The soundtrack version was the way it was originally intended until someone had a different idea. So because it was recorded that way, that's the way it was published.

The Scavenger/Rey's Theme is definitely fantastic. Very beautriful, and possibky my favorite TFA piece. But I also really like Han's sacrifice, whose track title I can't remember, and the Forceback piece.

Already mentioned (in this thread) blend of Rey's and Luke's/Force themes from the end credits:

The piece that plays during Han's confrontation with Ben is called Torn Apart and I just realized how good that one is too. The Scavenger/ Rey's Theme is definitely the best of the ost.

One of my favorites part of the movie with one of my favorites songs of the saga. By the way, I will watch the movie once again in a few hours.

"Farewell and the Trip", that's a true gem. By the way did anyone listen to the extended mix of the OST they send to the academy for the oscars. It's on youtube. It's here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Playstation354/videos

Notice the difference? I do. Just listen to the track "the resistance" and compare it to the track on the OST general release.

Saw the movie again yesterday and I believe the edit is at the 2:28 mark. The second time we hear the Force theme is when she closes her eyes at the edge of the cliff.

And I've got to say, this soundtrack gets better and better. Sometime, art needs to be studied to be appreciated. The more you dig, the more you uncover. It's what has always separated John Williams from the rest, and he nailed it again with TFA.

It took quite some time for people to like Van Gogh and appreciate him as an absolute genius.

Please, can someone indicate me where in this OST I could find two themes, we can hear both in the Official Trailer

    - these single notes of piano, when Rey enters the ISD, in the first seconds of the trailer
    - the theme we can hear, from 1:06, when the Falcon escapes two TIE's on Jakku and flies into the wrecked ISD, when a female voice says "There are stories about what happened" and just further, Han says "It's true. All of it".

The tunes I'm speaking about aren't on the OST that I loaded from the link below (waltdisneystudioawards...) ---- or am I completely stupid ????

Those were intepretations of John Williams themes for the Empire Strikes Back specifically taylored to support the emotional feel of the trailers for The Force Awakens. The idea of nostalgia, homecoming and childhood memories. They are not on the original score because they are not featured in the force awakens, and because the remixes used in the trailer were not made by the great master himself.

OK thank you! Do you mean they are on the ESB original sound track, but not arranged as I can hear them in the SW7 trailer?
