I'm very much looking forward to this film. That fact that the setting is three hundred years in the past is quite intriguing IMO. Not only are the humans less technologically advanced, but so is the predator, a move that will definitely help even the playing field. Unfortunately the film will only be released on Hulu; my how times have changed.

I'm also looking forward to this film. I'm not a huge Predator fan, but I'm intrigued by the past idea.

Isn't Hulu included with a Disney+ subscription? At least in Germany we can watch Hulu by the help of Disney+.

No I don't believe so, at least not in the US.

Apparently in the US you can buy a bundle which includes Hulu for about $14. In Germany we definitely have Hulu included from the get go because @RockyRoadHux and I watched Pam&Tommy (a Hulu show) on Disney+.

I'm in the US, I had the bundle, but decided to get rid of it. The Bundle included ESPN and Hulu. I don't have time to watch allot of TV due to my job, so it's a waste, I currently have Disney Plus, Netflix, Amazon-Prime, HboMax, and Paramount which I use for Star Trek ( I might get rid of that one too). I also have a service called Soul-Player, where you can watch practically everything being streamed, it cost me $40 a month( there are too many streaming services and shows nowadays Soul-Player takes care of that), what I don't like about Soul-Player is you have to wait a few days for it to upload on the platform. I'll be able to watch Prey when it is released, but maybe it will upload a week after release which isn't bad at all.

Yep. This whole approach....so far lol.....has a refreshing aspect to it. Question. So is that like a bone helmet on it's head or is that his actual head? Hard to tell.

Yeah, the Predator in this one sure looks more "primitive" and I bet they have incorporate some actual animal skull thing into their headgear.

I want to see this, but I wish they would've made a Predator movie based off the story Anna tells in the original Predator when she was a little girl.

The premise reminds me of the Aliens book Phalanx where a planet that has only advanced to medieval technology has a Xenomorph outbreak

Or also Cowboys And Aliens in which an amazing cast takes a premise that seemingly writes itself and bores me to tears.

Hopefully it's less like the latter but the history of the Predator franchise doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Quite a few movies and only one of them actually great.

I will argue that Predator 2, while not a very good movie in some ways, possessed much of the same quaint charm that enchanted so many greater-than-they-should-be 80s movies. I really like it besides it's rather obvious flaws :)

But yeah, the Predator franchise should be easy to do better than it has been

I enjoy Predator 2... now. But when it first came out I almost ejected the VHS rental straight into the garbage. I was a kid though and basically just wanted more Arnold and army guys. If they had filmed the same script with a different looking alien and called it something besides Predator I bet I would have enjoyed it. I revisited it as an adult though, keeping an open mind and did enjoy it. It's no Predator but a fun sci-fi action movie and I give them a lot of credit for being original and not just trying to remake the original. Though on the other hand it sometimes feel like they just threw a Predator into a generic 80s/90s post-apocalyptic action movie about Danny Glover killing drug dealers. Just the weirdness of that makes it entertaining though.

That P2 wasn't Jungle-Arnold2 never bothered me, to be honest. I think I came to appreciate Schwarzenegger more as an adult than what I did as a kid.

P2 was more pure sci-fi, I guess, and I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of it and how that integrated into the entire faux-voodoo drug war framing story. But there are some serious stinker acting performances in P2, however, and even Bill Paxton -- whom I love in everything else -- was quiet bad in that one (although the Latina cop actor certainly takes the cake in that regard). Glover is alright, though, as is his Puerto Rican (?) sidekick who dies too early. And the predator itself is pretty badbutt!

I never expected a sequel to take place in an urban setting but that's not my problem with the film. The street gang war/news reporting on the scene segments we're absolutely horrible. I didn't like the choice of Danny Glover in the lead role. Something about him in that role just seemed off. The whole stereotypical portrayal of Rastafarian culture was totally disrespected and overblown. Rastas riding around in cars so thick with weed smoke that you couldn't even see inside clearly, all you saw was a white cloud. Totally Hollywood and unrealistic. The train scene effects we're so poorly done that I couldn't help but be constantly distracted by how bad they we're. The whole tone of the film was way too overblown and flamboyant (costume design) to the point of it presenting itself as a B movie. The only thing I liked we're the multiple predators at the end. That was a cool surprise. Glover being given the civil war musket as a token of his victory over the fallen predator was a nice addition to the overall understanding of the predator culture; how also at that moment it was made clear to the viewer that they have been hunting humans on earth for centuries i.e. "PREY".

Oh, the film definitely has some iffy and overblown comic book style cultural portrayals, no doubt about that. The tone is more akin to Robocop, or something.
