I guess I can see that. To me it seemed like two old vets sharing a moment while reminding this whippersnapper not to get ‘too cocky’. Meh, different strokes . . .

I enjoyed this one. Lots of fun references from all over the SW timelines.

I'm not sure what to think of the chasm crossing. In one sense I liked it, but Kanan's jump seemed a bit much. My daughters had just asked why they needed to tag team push Ezra over , I started saying "because that is just too far to jump on their own...oh. never mind...".

I'm hoping there will be at least one more episode with Saw, where it shows the split between him and the Rebels - in Rogue One they were all but completely disassociated with him.

It was good to have a completely separate, generic Imperial group fighting them again. Too many episodes with their nemeses being Kallus, Tarkin, Vader, and Thrawn starts to weaken them, so when appropriate having a random cruiser checking on the system they are in still works for me.

As implausible as it was to have the Ghost flying vertically in such a tight space, it added a lot of tension.

One of the things that always endeared me to Star Wars was the fact that multiple main characters didn't speak english, and had no subtitles. Having the audience only getting the gist of the conversation was always so unique to me. Similarly, I like that the characters cannot always understand one another - it makes the scope of the galaxy seem more plausible.

+1 for this. i never asked myself why some people could understand binary or shyriiwook or why those languages weren't translated for us.
    context is everything.

I always point to this when people say something "is stupid and doesn't make sense". If we accept that there's little logic to this aspect, then I'm pretty sure other small logical leaps for narrative purposes are OK.

It provides a nice cushion for comedic moments, like everything about Chewie being explained by Harrison Ford is just amazing. And hearing Threepio respond to something and give context in that English butler voice is more hilarious than just a simple exchange in 'Basic'. And Chopper's 'arms' and satellite dish 'hat' that he uses for expression can be pretty funny too. I love Star Wars!

Agreed. Suspension-of-disbelief is a pretty important requisite for this entire franchise.

Which is unfortunate, since over-analyzing things is the national sport of Star Wars fans. :p

Yin and Yang, man. Together, forever entwined in an endless dance . . . like pizza rolls and heartburn.

Regarding my earlier comment, I made a short video with my 9-year old son (Sebas Ren) reviewing this episode in a Father & Son Star Wars Talk. Hope you like it:

I'm loving it. Kanan is showing a great deal of power. The jump wasn't just impressive for the distance but is also displaying how good he is with his force sight. If you can't see where the end of the cliff you are standing on or where exactly you need to land that jump should be impossible. He was also able to sense the bug a few times from a distance. At this point it seems like he has surpassed what he could do with his eyes.

Good answer, seeing it from this view (no pun intended...) changes my thinking towards it

Just don't do it too often ;)

I like those bits too, makes the world feel more real and lived in.

I guess I an easier time suspending my disbelief for the magic stuff, like light sabers and the force. To me, when a major plot point is that they need to figure out what the bug was saying to determine what the empire was up too....none of their tech can record sounds? They couldn't comlink the voice to the ship and store the audio there?

Robots that can plot multi-dimensional space time trajectories seem like they should be able to store audio. I mean, they are taking verbal commands.

I don't know. Maybe there is no good explanation for my feelings. I like zillow beast and ghost witches but can't buy into light saber helicopters. Why weren't those used that way before, or since?

    Excellent point

@porkozone I was thinking about this a bit more. I don't think he "actually" jumped that far. I think the show just exaggerates jumping. I was thinking back to season one and two where I complained that Sabine can jump like 10 feet into the air, unassisted, without any powers.

When they were referring to, "A circle inside a circle," for Click-clack's drawing, I immediately thought Death Star. While we find poison canisters at the end, I still believe Click-clack might be referring to the Death Star because at the end, the Saw and the Rebels state that whatever they were building on Geonosis is still not found.

They did a great job with Saw, he came across so much more menacing and frightening than in the film, there was a real vibe of violent psycho coming off him. Felt so threatening.

The geonosian was cute...I felt sorry for him of the way Saw treated him.
