SPOILER Rebels Season 3 Ep 9: An Inside Man

Finally, an episode that gives hope for the rest of the season! Huge improvement in story and animation compared to the last two episodes.

Also, great to see the TIE Defender, if only they would make new (good) X-Wing and Tie Fighter games.

more chess moves from Thrawn, and more information on the rebels in the bank. He didn't blink when he announced that a droid had downloaded secret data from the 'top secret section'... it was bait to draw the rebels in and learn from them.

it's how i was hoping he would be.

anyone see the Jedi temple mask on his table?

wonder what he learnt when he acquired that? pride of place on his desk... it must be important to him. anyone know what the other thing is onthe other side?

 

I'm glad you mentioned it since I noticed it too. When I saw that I thought it was the one Kanan was wearing when leaving Malachor but, how would Thrawn get that one? It might be another one though.

Decent episode. The speeder bike thing with that guy was pretty silly though. Thrawn overrode the controls, sure, but it wasn’t like the dude was strapped in. Why didn’t he just jump off instead of sitting there waiting to be blown up?

Also, the big secret they’re guarding is a TIE with a shield? Are they going to bother explaining why this is something the Empire wasn’t doing all along?

Meh, looking forward to next week.

I’m speaking more to the Rebel’s reaction to the reveal. That THIS is what could spell doom for the Rebellion – a TIE fighter that can't be destroyed by someone sneezing on it.

 

Still can't get into this season.

 

Hrm, your first point is a good one. Maybe he was too old to jump? Maybe he knew he'd be gunned down if he got off of it.

As for the second, we know why. Ties and their pilots are expendable. They are ok with a rebel x-wing having a 4:1 better kill count. However, Thrawn of the old books cared about his subordinates. He didn't take his men's lives lightly. If he wants a single squadron of defenders, he could achieve a lot with it.

 

Also, maybe he would not be gunned down immediately, but would be imprisoned and tortured to get more information about the rebel cell he was with. Perhaps the guy decided to sacrifice himself and die right there rather than risk himself to give information about his comrades.

 

If he was that committed to the cause then why bother trying to decelerate the bike in the first place?

 

Because he was trying to play it off as some weird freak accident, but Thrawn saw through his bullsquat

 

It's not like Thrawn needs 'probable cause' to arrest and interrogate someone. He'd just do it. He could have rounded up the whole lot and pressed them for intel if that was his goal. No, the demonstration was meant to send a message to the rest of the workers - get it together or THIS could happen to you. Mr. Moustache simply let it happen because of plot.

 

...Ah the Wolf imagery I was wondering about was from the Lothal Temple— (LeftCenterLow).

Though wolf imagery has popped up in other areas as well... As I said previously, the man (Filoni) likes his wolves!
