Return to Ahch-To?

Depends if they visit Skellig. They might have filmed scenes previously when they were there. Otherwise Skellig is a world heritage site you need special permission and close off the island. I Am pretty sure we would know if that happened. However indoors studios rumours of fiming in Scotland I guess they can double for ach to.

 

Even though I want the ST to end on Tatooine and with the binary sunset (either Ben and Rey or just Ben walking alone into the sunset), I do think it will end on Ahch-To.

But I doubt it will play much of a role in IX. Furthermore EPIX is set to be filmed in Scotland (?). I don't think we will get two "green" planets in one movie. Instead of Ahch-To I could also see Jakku returning. I would like that more.

 

This. And I'm holding my breath for Luke's compass being from importance as well as the KOR showing up on Ahch-To.

 

If the only thing remaining from a tree is an empty trunk with no leaves before being burned down, then I think it's safe to assume that such a tree has been dead for quite some time.

To answer the question - I don't think so. There isn't really anything on Ahch-To that can move the story forward. I like the planet and love the Caretakers and Porgs, but I can't see a reason to return there. It doesn't also help that filming on Skellig Michael is a pain.

 

I agree with @Pawek_13 that I don’t see a return to Ahch-to. I also agree that there is nothing there to move the story forward. Luke is no longer there and can show up anytime where Rey is. Rey took the books out of the tree already. I see limited reason to go back.

 

I like to think Ahch-To also means Act two. So, yeah there's no reason to go back.

 

I'd agree if the tree was like the white tree of Gondor in Return of the King, i.e. almost dead but with a singular sign of vegetation. In case of TLJ, however, there's no such thing. The tree also is never regarded as a tree. The only time it is referred to by someone, it is by Yoda who calls it "a library."

 

IDK what they'd go there for except maybe to see if Luke had anything there to help rebuild/build a lightsaber

 

In my mind it has to end on Tatooine. Maybe with Ben and Rey looking into the binary sunrise? That would be fitting since Rey was on Jakku by herself, and Jakku is really just Tatooine with one sun. Put the two of them on Tatooine with two suns and that's a wrap.

Merge these three ideas into one and that would be so good.

 

I get it, but I hate sand... in all seriousness desert planets have been used an awful lot. Plus, it was used as an ending for Sith. I mean, you're just replacing the new characters in with the old.

 

I dunno. I don't see a reason to go back as she checked out the books from the local branch of the jedi library. They could always come up with a reason for her to go back though. I guess she would have to return them in order not to have a huge late fee.
