Chopper can apparently be spotted on Yavin IV, but I didn't see him myself.

 

Totally forgot about the two on Jedha!! That was a pleasant surprise as well

 

Is General Draven. And yes he is called by his name in the "Alliance meeting" with Jyn Erso and Bodhi Rook

 

Nope. It is confirmed by Gareth himself that he is not Kallus.

 

Since the CGI character-faces seem to be divisive, there should be a poll for those who liked vs. disliked them. I'm curious to see what the majority opinion is.

I loved the dark start with Cassian Andor, killing that guy knowing if the troopers took him it could bring down the rebels.. Dark and powerful at the same time.

Great addition to the original trilogy

What I liked:

All the main cast with standouts being Donnie Yen, Riz and Felicity
The cinematography - The film is up there with the latest Mad Max...some of the shots of the Death Star being used on Jedha and Scarif and the ensuing carnage are just wow moments.
The interplanetary battle is beautiful
The call backs/forwards and use of characters from Ep 4
The FX for Peter Cushing...they 100% nailed it
The almost seamless transition into Ep 4

What I did not like:

The music is very hit and miss
Not developing the main cast enough other than Jyn. The film could have done with another 15-20 mins for the rest of them
3 of the onscreen deaths felt unnecessary Baze Malbus, Saw Gerrera and Bodhi Rook and felt out of place in the way that they died
Leigh FX - her face was too bright/pale and she had no colour in her cheeks

Just back from my second viewing and enjoyed it much much better than the first, i still think Tarkin was overused, i still hated the musical score which was very jarring in parts and for some reason felt Saw Gerrera was a strange character and not easily understandable..although i know he is damaged goods.

On second viewing the middle part of the film doesn't drag on as much as first viewing but i still feel it could have been 10-20 minutes shorter in the 2nd act and done without Bhodi Rook and fleshed out the other characters just a little bit more.

From Jyn saying "May the force be with us" the movie turns up to 11 and is pure joy to watch for a fan, i really enjoyed it.

 

Just got back from the cinema. Still sinking it in.
I had a feeling that it was a bit too long. It's like they crammed all the action in the last 30 minutes.
I was really impressed with Tarkin's CGI, and use of his character. It's funny how he actually couldn't wait to destroy the Citadel on Scarif because Krennic was down there. That was pure mutual hatred between those two.
I liked the locations and new planets, that was something TFA fell short with. Especially the first location where we meet Cassian, it's beautiful.
Scenes with Vader were brilliant, and I think that he really steals the show and highlights the whole movie.
End of the movie felt rushed with princess Leia scene and her CGI character was not so good. I'm curious, how did they pulled off Tarking so good, and Leia not so good?
Krennic was great character, I would really like to know more about him.
It really sucks that we didn't get to see his Deathtroopers in action a little bit more. They are heavily marketed, but we only get to see maybe 20 seconds of the movie where they blast away all those rebels.
Space battle was beautiful.
Overall, good movie that was odd to watch because I didn't have that "magical SW feeling" that I had with all the saga films. But I understand since that was the point of spin-off movies, just need's a little more of getting used to it.

I agree with your views but not the Vader bits, i think they used Vader perfectly.. and we saw him in the way we need too also...

 

What a film, sooo good. That final 10 minutes-WOW!
There were so many nods to the OT, it felt distinct but you also believe it's in the same universe as ANH and TESB.

 

Yeah they did use him perfectly and it is a good sign that I was left wanting more of him
