One consistent standout for fans from the two-episode premiere of Ahsoka was just how fantastic the score is, showcasing a wide range of instruments and genre typical of Kiner family collaboration in Star Wars. One song that seemed to especially appeal to fans was Sabine’s speeder chase music. According to an interview with Pitchfork, veteran music producer and member of the band, Illuminati Hotties, Sarah Tudzin, provided vocals for the song. The song, titled “Igyah Kah,” was composed by series composer Kevin Kiner, along with Ludwig Göransson, Deana Kiner, and Noah Gorelick.

Regarding how the collaboration began, Tudzin commented:

Tudzin's work in the music industry is comprehensive, having collaborated with a wide variety of artists across the genre spectrum and holding numerous roles. An excerpt from the bio on her website reads:

“Igyah Kah” is somewhat reminiscent of glitter-punk or dance-punk subgenres and reminded me of bands like Bikini Kill. A bold, unapologetic, brook-no-argument anthem that perfectly set the stage for Sabine.

One thing is certain here, as much as we all continue to cherish and appreciate the magic that John Williams gave the Star Wars universe over his long tenure as composer, fans are delighting in these fresh takes on in-universe music with examples ranging all the way from early The Clone Wars songs by Kiner, to The Mandalorian theme by Göransson, “Niamos!” By Nicholas Britell for Andor, and more.

No official word yet on when the soundtrack for Ahsoka is set to be released, but we expect it will be toward the end of the series, which wraps up on October 4th. It's also possible they will break it up into two albums, similar to what The Mandalorian did, or Andor, which broke its score into three albums, each album being comprised of four episodes.

The first two episodes of Ahsoka are streaming now on Disney Plus. You can check out Miguel's spoiler discussion here, and stay tuned for our live YouTube show on Thursday night where members of our staff will be breaking down the premiere in great detail.
