PM was re released in 2012 and grossed $43.5 mil.

should Disney spend the time and money to convert the rest of the prequel?

Is there already a plan in place that I don't know about?

personally I don't care for 3D. I think its just a fad, but some people absolutely love it...and some that would go to se it just because its star wars on the big screen...that to me is more of a reason to go.

If I'm not mistaken they planned on releasing the entire saga in 3D but canceled it due to the announcement of TFA. I think Attack of the Clones 3D premered at some thing in California and Revenge of the Sith 3D will premere at C7 but neither were big releases.

Hmm interesting. I guess that makes since...wouldn't want to spoil the hype.

I guess if fans really wanted to we could get together to do private scrreings or rent a screen. Like rocky horror fans do. Idk what the legal options would be.

Well, I certainly think either of the other two movies would be better in 3D than TPM would be. That said, I'm not sure it's worth the time. I'm not sure even just re-releasing the regular versions would be worth it. Have they already done that or announced plans to?

Ever been to one of those? They have one near the local university in my area like every Saturday night. They have a group that actually acts it out while the movie plays in the background.

It was both awfully fun and quite a bit scary at the same time.

I think the trilogy would be released in 3d first before the regular viewing, I will come prepared with a pair of 3d glasses I have used since 2001, like these

Yeah, they already converted those. As @Link Voxx said AOTC already had a small screening and the ROTS will premiere on C7.

I don't think it will. For some, it may be that the "ugly" Star Wars side, the prequels (which are great movies), would be a bad reminder of what "Star Wars could do and fail now under Disney". But in all honesty, why show it when the Original Trilogy characters are in the new movie, the new trilogy is AFTER the Original Trilogy, and the Original Trilogy has comics and books fleshing it out and making it more intertwined. I want and would love to see more Prequel era and before stuff, but its simple logic to focus on what the movie is focusing on - a movie of new with the original cast following the original movies.

I’d like to see some stuff about the discovery of the force or the creation of the Jedi order...that would be cool. It probably exists somewhere out there. Well maybe they will do a special edition of them 20+ years from now with new cuts.

And new updated special effects. Hopefully they would use more models in II and III. They did a great job on Episode I. The best looking of the three for the most part.

Precisely. The tour of the OT prior to the release of TPM made perfect sense, as the PT was tying directly into the OT. Reason would have it to simply do another tour of the OT, if only for the reason that it ties directly into the ST as well.

I think the best part of having RotS in 3D would be seeing the opening space battle. I think they intend to have all 6 of the existing movies in 3D but with TFA coming out they put that conversion work on hold.

Yep the space battle over Coruscant was good but the jedi could have destroyed a few more separatist droids before heading to the Iron Fist to ''rescue'' Sidious.

Which is quite good as domestically the 3D versions of Toy Story/Toy Story 2 made 30M, Beauty and the Beast made 48M, Finding Nemo made 41M, Monsters Inc made 34M, Jurassic Park made 45M, Titanic made 58M, The Lion King made 94M and so on.

Overall it made about 103M worldwide which is quite good considering that the roll out was done months after the Blu-Rays went on sale for the entire saga and without a SE like tie-in for all 3 films.

AOTC and ROTS were due in fall of 13 back to back with a 2-3 week wait between the two.

The conversions were already financed before Disney bought Lucasfilm.

I am guessing that they may be put out for the 40th in 2017 along with 3D versions of IV-VI.

Once laser projection comes in then all the problem people have with 3D will be overcome:

    http://spectrum.ieee.org/consumer-electronics/audiovideo/lasers-coming-to-a-theater-near-you

This technological revolution will come from some radical transformations in motion-picture projectors. Since 2000, movie theaters have been switching over to digital projectors. But these projectors continue to rely on a 60-year-old technology: xenon electric-arc lamps, whose brightness fades over time. Even brand new, these lamps are not up to the demands of 3-D movies, especially on larger screens. The movie projectors of the future will replace these lightbulbs with lasers.

TMP earned US$102.7 million at the box office and brought the film's overall worldwide takings to US $1.027 billion in 2012 3D re-release.
