SPECULATION Should more of C-3PO's role as a spymaster be utilized?

According to the Visual Dictionary, C-PO's got undercover droid spies and droid contacts everywhere. (His contact on Takodona alerted the resistance)

Should we see more of that utilized?
Or would you be happy with less and less C-3PO?

We should only see more of this if it's significant for the story. But I don't think that his role as a spymaster is that important. Actually, I believe C-3PO won't have a big part in the ST. Yes, he will be in VIII and IX but only for a small amount of time.

To be honest, I don't care if C-3PO has something to do in the ST. For me, this droid is just a minor character.

If that ended up being crucial at some point in the story I would really like it, like 3PO ends up saving evveryone by sending a fleet of resistance soldiers or something like that, but i doubt it since it hasn't been really established in TFA

IMO, to call him spy master gives him too much credit. He speaks two billion forms of communication, true. He's a walking computer with a hard drive for memory, true. He's been a lot of places and heard a lot of things, true. But is he a ring leader? I don't think so. A conspirator, no. And it seems to me a lot of his bits are confusing without context.

    Just my opinion

I don't think a harddrive could fit that much in it ...

Only for comedy relief, it kind of reminds me of the concierge network from Grand Budhapest Hotel.

I enjoyed him in the OT, I think he fit in very well with Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewie. For some reason I just don't see him working that well with the new characters, other than maybe Poe? Not sure why, but I'm just having a tough time imagining C-3PO + Finn / Rey. Maybe just because there hasn't been any interaction there yet.

I don't really anticipate him leaving Leia's side though, or doing much outside of the Resistance war room.

I actually had no idea that was the case. Pretty cool though! Definitely adds more value to the droid.. that network of spies could be dangerous in the wrong hands! Wouldn't mind seeing more of this at all - or just his network of spies explained in the movies, for that matter.

I would like him to be given some more significance in this series. I would absolutely love it if he sacrificed himself for his friends in this series and the movie dealt briefly with the concept of whether AI can truly care about humans and love them. If he overcame his neurosis and fear and intentionally went in to harms way to save his friends...that would be a fitting end to the characters arch.

Other than progeny, C-3P0 is one of the few things the "kid" Anakin did that continues survive the series. C-3P0 is a relic of Anakin Skywalker. Darth Vader is C-3P0's dad.

That won't happen. Star Wars is the Journal of the Whills, even under new management: ala Force Awakens novelisation. George Lucas said that R2-D2 and C3P0 give the stories to them, so I think it's safe to say that they'll never die :).

This is a fictional universe with starships and magic you realise?

He's as boring as Jar Jar. The less I see him, the better I am.
