I actually think that these reactions we're seeing are very positive. It's good getting this spread of people going "I really liked the first half" and "I really liked the second half".

Oooooh, sooooo edgy. Ugh. THIS GUY. He is.....GARBAGE. While I agree with much of his politics, the way he goes about expressing himself is overly heavy handed, combative, and obnoxious. Unfollowed him a long time ago because of it.

8 days for the premiere here in Europe. Hope they will distribute some mini posters of the movie like they did with TLJ.

Seems like most are in the "it's decent/average/okay" camp, and this is a very fine line to walk in counting it "Fresh" or "Rotten", as some reviews may give it a star rating that qualifies it as one but then the tone and content of the review itself may qualify it as the other.

Current Tomatometer based on 71 reviews is 72% but expect this to slide up and down all week (or at least all day). Average rating so far is 6.4/10.

Which is about what I expected. Competently made, entertaining in parts, but predictable and by-the-numbers. It's not the mess some suspected and I think that's why Disney put this out so, so far ahead--to reassure everyone that, even if it's not a masterpiece, it's not the dumpster fire some feared. "It's pretty good, I guess."

I have a feeling this film will age a bit better when it's not an event with focus on it, when it's just a random "Star Wars story", like selecting a Star Wars comic or novel at random that offers a fun but unspectacular adventure that fleshes out the sidelines of the main saga.

Just an observation based on the early feedback. I wonder if the extent of the reshoots contributed to the apparent pacing problems and the movie starting out slow. Rogue One has the same problem and also went through a lot of changes.

The Rogue One story changed significantly the last six months before it was released. Solo's script didn't change. Without having seen the film it's difficult to comment further. Origin films typically start slow.

Will not talk to much because of the spoilers.
Solo has a lot of good momments but I can say that is the weakeast movie of the Disney erA.

My opinion was that is was ok. Not great not bad. Very predictable story, Chewie was great, I didn't mind Glover's Lando, wasn't really sold on Alden's Han but it was an ok character in it's own right. The humor didn't hit for me but didn't put me off.

For me it is not a patch on Rogue One, but I like it much more than than the two Disney Saga films.

I had its moment but overall it was the weakest of the new one. Chewie and Han was great, Beckett was good and i liked Rio.

Glover did a good as Lando but the Lando character was boring and did do so much.

L3 was little over the top. Should have been toned down.

I liked it. I was good. Not "omg I'm six again", but good. Awesome Han and Chewie, great worldbuilding, some pacing issues in the first half. Maybe I'll write a more detailed post later, if I feel like it. But the movie made me happy after watching it so, unless you are a crazy OT religious fanatic, go watch it!

It was really good, enjoyed it a lot, lots of references and Easter eggs made it feel very much a part of the larger universe from *all* of the movies, even an absolutely terrible PS1 game haha. Going to see it again tomorrow with my boy, looking forward to digesting it in a more palatable way.

I'll say this though, wasn't quite *my* kind of Star Wars movie, but that's just me (as in what I prefer the most thematically). It feels like each new Disney-era SW film has covered a different section of the fanbase market -

TFA - that mainstream "hey remember Star Wars?" it's-cool-to-like-it-again retro-cool package
R1 - the tech-obsessed 90s PC gamer fan of the X Wing franchise
TLJ - the fans of the weird and crazy force-exploring episodes of Clone Wars and Rebels
Solo - the fans of the low-stakes character-building episodes of Clone Wars & Rebels, as well as the Cloud City betrayal in ESB.

All of the above have their place and I respect and enjoy all those aforementioned aspects. That's part of the beauty of Star Wars, it covers so many bases for enjoyment. For me, I'm the R1 kinda guy, I like squadrons, troopers, Imperial in-fighting and military tactics and to quote Luke "You know of the Rebellion against the Empire?! Have you been in many battles?" - that's me perfectly. Just my personal preference. I love Empire Strikes Back as much as the next fan, Adywan's version the most, but I'm going to say it; I prefer the Battle of Hoth-stuff (especially Aywan's again) to the Dagobah and Cloud City parts.

Anyway, i'd give it 7.5/10, may even enjoy it more the second time, just as I said, personally I prefer to see more stormtroopers, Imperial officers, X Wing battles etc.

Moments like "They're already engaged sir..." as the alarm sounds from R1 are my favourite types of Star Wars scene. There's not enough military in this movie for my personal preferences, but that's criticising it for what it wasn't, not what it was. And what was is still a great fun film that I enjoyed thoroughly.

From the point of entertainment and feeling of Original Star wars this film is way above The last Jedi.
    Film honors all characters.
And my it honors Millenium falcon..that is perfect.
Overal film honors legacy and there is no reason to be considered anything but true Star Wars film.
I will have its deserved place in SW lore and SW fans hearts.

My personal belief is if one day they will CGI Han Solo's face over Alden's (respect but he is not Ford) this would be awesome version of the film and Star Wars fans will grab this version.

Just got home from my first viewing and my, that was a fun action film. It's not perfect but it's one hell of a fun ride at times.

I was dubious about the film and not a great deal of excited but am I glad they made it? Very much so.

It doesn't try to be too deep or multilayered, it doesn't really add to the larger SW Universe but it does add to Han and Chewie's backstory in a fun way. Some really cool Easter Eggs also, especially with the Falcon. I'm glad the Empire took a back seat in this, it was nice to see a SW film without so much of a focus on Military/War.

Thought one of the final key scenes we've been waiting to see/heard about for a long time towards the end was slightly underwhelming but that's only a minor gripe. All in all it was just a lot of fun.

I thought Alden Ehrenreich played the part well, he didn't try to be Harrison Ford too much and for me that made it better. He wasn't trying to mirror him and as a result made his portrayal more believable as I soon into the film I wasn't actively paying attention to any similarities and could just enjoy his performance. Donald Glover had more flashes of the past with Lando but again made it his own slightly.

Would I like a sequel? Hell yes, give me more please. I'd say it's more like Indiana Jones at times than Star Wars, as funny as that sounds. Has a style different from any other movie to date, which I thought worked.

One fun, light, enjoyable adventure movie. It doesn't try to be anything other than that.

I pretty much agree with all of this. Thought all the characters were excellent & probably better than a lot from the sequel trilogy. L3 I didn’t warm to as much as others have.

It’s a slow start but I think it will be better on second viewing as you spend the first hour just getting used to Alden as Han.

I originally wasn’t too fussed on a Solo movie but after watching it I really want more!

I agree, it was a lot of fun! Hope a sequel is confirmed soon.

Also I didn't like L3 much either but I can kind of understand why Lando has Lobot in the future (ha!) and also her connection to The Falcon so her character added to it, even though I didn't really like 'her'

6.5-7/10. Enjoyed it but didn’t get over excited at any point as I have in every single SW movie. The things I thought I wouldn’t like, I didn’t and the things I thought would be good, were. It was fine. A few decent laughs. Some new fun things. Some old things to please the fans. The Solo character arc worked and made sense. The Alien monkey thing was Jar Jar level bad. Emilia Clarke cannot act. Chewie and Lando were great. Music was average. Paul Bettany was a better villain than I thought he would be but still pretty weak. Too many stage school kids. I liked the evil lady centipede. Will discuss the other “thing” later.

    Compared to Rogue One?
    What a dreadful idea.

I'm seeing this tomorrow night. I have to admit I've been meh about this film from the beginning, but it seems like most people like it pretty well. I didn't really care that much for Rogue One, but I still enjoyed it.
