Well folks it appears Solo will be breaking some new ground on the Score. The first non-JW orchestral Fanfare/majestic sweeping type of arrangements. The teaser and trailer had a really cool electric guitar , I thought it was great as it built to the “force theme”(I know too much Force theme use) but anyway what are your thoughts? Anyone know this Powell guy? (Music director)

John Powel has done the scores for the Bourne films, the first two Kung Fu Panda films, and How to Train Your Dragon.

I liked the sounds scoring the Solo teaser and the sounds on the trailer.
I'm gonna go with this thought.
TFA and Rogue One teasers and trailers both had music in them that didn't end end up in those films. They did use parts of themes and/or motifs we all know.
So I'm suspecting that may be the case with Solo.
    We'll see.

How to Train Your Dragon is a criminally underrated score

I like it, because it was utilized in a way to make it blend in with the orchestral score.

It's possible to use many different sounds in an orchestral score as long as you stay true to the genre.

Trailer music is almost never done by the composer of the film's actual score. Not sure why people keep trying to derive conclusions about these films' scores based on the trailer music.

"Well folks it appears Solo will be breaking some new ground on the Score. The first non-JW orchestral Fanfare/majestic sweeping type of arrangements."

    ..............Rogue One?

I think the score will fit with the film well. John Powell seems to have some pretty good range. Most composers who will get the job of scoring a movie set in the SW Universe will pay homage to John's work in some fashion. When i heard the score for Rogue One i liked it but it took me a couple listens to really take to it. Im sure it'll be similar with Solo. While we're speaking of composers, who else would LOVE to see Bear McCreary compose music for a SW film or the live action TV series?

I was really disappointed with R1's score so I hope Solo's is better. I'm not gonna go off of the just the trailer because as we saw with R1 the trailer score isn't always in the final film. John Williams contributing is a really cool idea and something that I wish R1 did. If it could fit I'd be interested in seeing if they could incorporate some western sounding stuff into the score like Firefly and Justified did so well.

I said non-JW orchestral Fanfare/majestic sweeping type of arrangements.

Giacchino is a student of John Williams, Williams mentored him. I think you would agree Giacchino's score for Rogue One is very similar to all other SW movies....(so far)

Thanks for bringin' him up. His name had caused me to wonder about a week or so back.
His take on the oxygen of Star Wars would make for a good listen, me thinks.

    Yep.
Hit the nail on the head.
"Why most folks keep tryin ...? "
Most folks (unlike some of that geek this stuff, in details) don't look much into nor understand what all goes into puttin' a film trailer nowadays together.

    .......
    Me ?
    I Loved it.
Took me a few listens also.
Hopeful for more from that fella sometime again, too.
