    Alright guys. I'm telling you something that could get an associate in some trouble. Word on the street from an employee I know is that Naughty Dog is making a new game based on a "youngish" (his word) Han Solo.

    His sister who he doesn't really know has been kidnapped by some gangsters and he feels compelled to go after her. It is an open world 3rd person action game. Here's the kicker... It is benchmarked for a release in 2016. Rumors in studio is that it's connected to the spin off film. No confirmation.


    Do with this as you please but this is rock solid first hand info.

    There was a rumor of at least a partial schedule for the spin-offs, wasn't there? I can't remember the order, but one was Solo and the other was for Boba Fett, supposedly.

    Unless I'm just mistaken and read "Fett" on one them purely as wishful thinking. :D

    Hmm insteresting. Sounds fun but I doubt it will be the primise of a spin-off movie. More like a REBELS story arc where Kanan and the others help Han rescuing his sister.

    You sure that it's Naughty Dog and not Visceral Games? The Visceral Games project has former Naughty Dog director Amy Hennig working on it, and the rumors up to this point have stated that the game would involve the underworld of the Star Wars universe, which is right up Han's alley. Also, based on their business patterns, I don't think EA wants to necessarily collaborate with a license that they just got the rights to until they bring some big money in first.

    I doubt that the game would be a tie-in/adaptation of the movie - EA was insistent that the games that they make aren't going to be direct adaptations, and Disney is insistent on creating a larger, more dynamic Star Wars universe through multimedia. Speaking of which, I wonder if it would be more prudent to move this thread into the "video games" section...

    If, major IF, they were to have a young Han Solo film, who would portray him? I know it's Star Wars sac-religious to think of anyone other than Harrison Ford as the ol' nerfherder himself but let's do this for fun.

    Good and fun idea. I feel it depends on how young (or "youngish") he is to be in the film. Just please no one say someone like Ryan Gosling, for the love of all that is holy.

    I'll ponder the possibilities.

    Doubt the first film is Solo. Everything we've seen -- and that's not much more than a schedule -- has Fett first with Solo second and Red Five third.

    Fett was slated for 2016, Solo for 2018, and Red Five for 2020. Could be bogus but right now I trust the schedule more than a supposed Han Solo sister plot.

    Makes me wonder who would play Fett for a spin-off. I'm assuming it is supposed to be for Boba correct? And it would probably focus on the interwar years (by which I mean between the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War)... and Temuera Morrison is already in his 50s.

    I suppose it could work if it takes place sometime later, if they go with a "he escapes from the Sarlacc" version from the old EU. But I've never been a big fan of Boba being just like Jango, even if he is an unaltered clone. Always bugs me they changed his voice in the Blu-Ray release of ESB (though not enough to ruin it I suppose).

    EDIT: As an afterthought, I suppose it could focus on a broad scheme of his life... but still, for most of the focus (or the only focus if he doesn't survive the Sarlacc), he won't be but 20 to 40 years old it seems.

    Heh, I do suppose Logan would be the logical choice. He's what, 27 or so? I suppose he could fit the bill for both young and early-middle-aged Boba at least, with make-up here and there. Completely slipped my mind. Perhaps subconsciously I'm just trying to get away from some aspects of the prequels. ;)

    I just put it in this thread because of what my acquaintance said regarding the staff at naughty dog thinking the game was tied to the release of one of the spin offs. Given the game is already reasonably far along in production they assume it was/will be tied to the first film. As for what studio is making it all I can say is my friend works for said company and worked there up until a few months ago when he got moved to another project. He is feeling quite strongly that this game is tied to one of the films fairly directly. That said he could be mistaken. He wasn't way up the food chain or anything but he did see this production day in and day out for months. As far as he is aware however no info about the game has been officially announced.

    Hey I just wanted to explain my interpretation of what my acquaintance had said to me. I don't want to get in to to many specifics but the general vibe I got was that this story would take place not terribly long before a new hope. So I would say from what I was told that the character model looks reasonably similar to Han in Ep. 4. Didn't sound at all like Han would be 14 or anything like that.

    Still, even if it's not tied to a Spin-off movie, it still sounds like a fun game. It better be on the Wii U or I will be unhappy.

    Thank you for the clarification. This does though make me wonder if they'll still go with the old backstory, that Han went to an Imperial academy and all that. Guess we'll see eventually. :)

    This doesn't hurt the superhero movies I highly doubt it will hurt Star Wars. BUT, like for Marvel, Disney will eventually drop down to the lower levels of "fame" for spinoffs. I mean if they can scrape up a GotG and Ant Man they will eventually make a movie for Garindan.
