Contacted EA support - According to them Xbox pre-orders will open up tomorrow. Kind of silly that only there are only PC & PS4 pre-orders for what's supposed to be a multiplatform title.

Can't wait for this game, trailer looks crazy intense. Is it considered Battlefront 3 or kind of a reboot of the title Battlefront?

I think it's just Star Wars: Battlefront. I hope we have an assault mode like in Battlefront 2 where you can only play as heroes or villain (the characters). That would look great on the Xbox One and PS4

I remember that game mode being a lot of fun. Boba Fett looks like a blast to play in the trailer.

When are we going to get a stand alone Star Wars animated movie like this? You know, like DC animated universe (DCAU) kind of stuff? Like something epic with characters we can no longer have in live action movies because of their age or because they have passed away?

I'd love to see a young Han and Lando (in their 20s) adventure rendered like this that starts with them earning their Corellian Bloodstripes.
    (As just one example)

It's not Battlefront 3. It's a reboot and will be set in the canon universe. The original Battlefront games are set in the legends universe.

@Darth Jason 141 shared an article about this on another thread. (http://thecantina.starwars7news.com/index.php?threads/boba-fett-survives-rotj.2433/#post-76389) I hope this is a canon shot and not just someone playing an unlockable Boba Fett during the non-canon gameplay element of The Battle of Jakku level...Long Live Fett! :)

    Boba Fett Lives!.JPG

Side note: Apparantly Jawas thrive on multiple desert worlds. :)

I know JJ and the Battlefront team both called this planet Jakku, which is growing on me...but part of me still thinks this a JJ "not Kahn" move...I mean seriously...Boba Fett was last seen on Tatooine...and a Sandcrawler?! C'mon...

While there are similarities, "The Battle of Jakku", based on statements given by DICE over Twitter and Reddit, is apparently nowhere near a finished state, let alone a presentable one (the game itself is apparently still in an alpha stage, with a good 7 months to go before release...). Additionally, the only planets that were confirmed to be shown in the trailer were Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and Sullust.

That part of the trailer is on Tatooine, which Jawas are native to. The crashed star destroyer, amongst other things, are there for cinematic effect and should not be considered canon.

If it's added for "cinematic effect" then it was blatantly put there to misdirect. What is the point of grafting a landscape directly from the planet Jakku as seen on the trailer onto a Tatooine landscape for the game - especially just for a trailer? It's such a quick blink and you miss shot, especially given that it's in the upper corner in the background, that I have to disagree that it adds any cinematic effect to the shot. I think it's there because it is in fact The Battle of Jakku (or what I believe is JJ's codename for The Battle of Tatooine.) The mountain ranges in the background look like they could possibly be the same from a different vantage point. The dunes from the trailer (with the crashed x-wing) would be just on the other side of the first range in the Battlefront trailer.

Again I reiterate, "The Battle of Jakku" is a DLC map that is not going to be ready at launch - statements from DICE very much indicate the map, or maps seeing as how 1 planet can make anywhere between 2 to possibly 4 maps, is far from finished, and so is the game itself (which still has 7 months to go). And yes, it's there for cinematic effect, and little else. It is a cinematic trailer, after all, and to be quite frank - which would look more appealing? A semi-empty battlefield, or a shot loaded with multiple events happening in the middle of a battle? It's not there to mislead or misdirect anyone, it's there to impress visually.

Lastly, I think you're reading too much into this. It was plainly stated in the opening panel with J.J. and Kennedy at Celebration VII that the planet from the teaser was not Tatooine, but an entirely separate planet. But setting that aside, it makes absolutely no sense for it to even be Tatooine if it's being promised as DLC featuring "an entirely new planet", nor does showing it in what it is essentially the game's reveal trailer seeing as how that would indicate the map is already finished and is part of a pre-existing environment that's shipping with the game.

This being an attempt to "mislead" the general public would spark more bad press than anything else, something this game does not need anymore of, as the lack of an actual gameplay reveal has sparked enough of a backlash already.

Lastly, I feel the need to point this out - the second picture - what you highlighted are sand dunes, not mountains. The heights, even taking into account the different angles, don't even begin to match up, nor does the coloring of the environments.

I agree with you about the state of the game being incomplete. Perhaps I AM reading too much into it. I concede that what you suggest is possible and probable. However I do think it's still possible for them to have completed enough of a Jakku map to show in a trailer without the game or the map being completely finished. There are so many other things they could have done to add to the shot. I just find it interesting that the crashed Star Destroyers are so similar. However, I do note the differences also, and after studying the two images I agree that they appear to be sand dunes in TFA trailer as opposed to mountains in the Battlefront trailer.

As for the misdirection possibility with Jakku, I would tend to agree if JJ hadn't previously deceived Star Trek fans with the inclusion of Kahn in Into Darkness. What is the Battlefront team to say after JJ already called this planet Jakku in his panel? They may have been forced to go with it. All that being said, you are probably right. I just think it would be awesome if we are in fact getting a glimpse of Jakku in this Battlefront trailer. Honestly I hope it is actually Jakku and not Tatooine. The possible background of the planet given by yoda2 is intriguing and I would love to see that play out on screen.

For this reason I can understand why there's a sense of misdirection and disbelief, and while I do believe Jakku is a different planet, this could very well happen with other aspects of the movie.

You never know with Mr. Abrams these days. ;)

Looks like Gamestop is getting exclusive Developer Diaries from DICE. There's a couple of new images and a little bit of new WIP footage.

I noticed after re-watching it last night, my fault for not editing the post. Regardless, yes you are correct - my mistake.
