We know from Jen Heddle editor at LFL that Bloodline "will show Han and Leia in happier times" and "There is some cute Han/Leia stuff in it", so it sounds like they're still together. So my guess is that Leia is a New Republic Senator, the First Order is starting to gain some traction but the New Republic is blind to it, Han and Leia are still together, and Ben is with Luke but Leia is growing increasingly worried about him. I'm thinking it ends with Leia feeling the Massacre through the Force, and the reader knows what's coming.

Claudia Gray said she was unspoiled for TFA, so it sounds like this book takes place before the massacre, otherwise she'd have to be completely spoiled on the state of the galaxy in TFA to write Bloodline.

Being unspoiled for TFA is not the same thing as being told one or two things that have to be included in the story.

Guess that means I was off about that scene being the game-changing moment that the author described... Then again, Pablo Hidalgo's comments on the matter of how recent it was in-canon (he said something to the effect of "more recent than 15 years before TFA") didn't exactly help.

A blog post I found yesterday, and it mentions the upcoming release of "Bloodline" and politics in a galaxy far, far away... also one question that has been in my head: "do the Skywalker twins know about their mother?". We do know Leia has "images, feelings" but do they actually know who she was??

Padme got a bum deal in the PT, big time, and she's forgotten because of it. i like that the article acknowledges that the Skywalker kids share more in common with their mother than their father (so true!).

i hope they have learned who she was and what she did and that somewhere in all of this new material she gets some justice.

I hope so too. Even if we can foresee from the "Bloodline" posters that Leia's connection with Vader is to be revealed, I don't think that it is a truth universally acknowledged that Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader were the same person. So it could be possible that Luke and Leia knew about Padme, and if Leia publicly acknowledged being Luke's sister, thus Anakin Skywalker's daughter, that would not be a big deal until someone found out the truth.

Actually while I was reading the first chapters I thought: which planet is Leia Senator from? If they say Naboo I'm definitely crying happy tears lol.

Regarding the prequels, it's like @Just Passing Through said on another post about the destruction of Hosnian Prime: the root of many flaws in the PT was poor scriptwriting and direction. That didn't do much justice to Padme's character. I agree with this article: it would be interesting to see something about her between TPM and AOTC - like they are doing with the "Obi-Wan & Anakin" comic.

i'm a little fuzzy on the details, but when Padme died and was buried all great with child (children), did they even know Anakin was the father (and by they, i mean people in general)? this is where i think there could possibly be a disconnect.

it's not even just making the connection between Anakin and Vader, but between Anakin and Padme. and then, from there, resolving that she was wasn't actually preggers when she died. or am i missing something?

You are correct. From what I recall, they were secretly married so nobody knew about their relationship. I recall even Obi-Wan asking Padme in ROTS if Anakin was her baby's father and then he said "I'm so sorry". So you are correct, there might be a way to have her Naboo origins known without linking it with Anakin. But it is true: from the Darth Vader's comics, supposedly the only person who knew she wasn't pregnant when she died - apart from Yoda, Obi-Wan, Bail, Artoo and Threepio (before wiping the records) - was the mortician, and he's dead by now. So it's interesting to see all the potential outcomes.

Padme's family knew Anakin was her sweetie, but that was a couple of years before the pregnancy. They may or may not have known about the secret wedding.
    --- Double Post Merged, Apr 28, 2016, Original Post Date: Apr 28, 2016 ---
Notice too that there was never an indication that the children should go to Padme's family at all. Anakin's stepbrother, was ok? That might have been too obvious to Vader, but he wouldn't have gone back home.
