Hell, Lucas used just as many lens flares in the PT as I've ever seen JJ use.

And I will take lens flares in a New York minute over the ridiculous "shake the camera to simulate tension" thing that has ruined movie after movie for the past decade or so.

In my opinion, neither effect is as viciously tiresome as the relentless color correction/color filters applied over everything - modern movies don't even look like they were filmed in real life.

I love the way the avengers movies' colors. They popped like the comic they were based on.

I couldn't agree more, Kibble! Everything has to either look oversaturated or washed out or yellow-tinged... anything but actual true color.

That's one thing I have never liked about the DVD/Blu-ray versions of the OT movies... the color is all wrong. Bright pink laser flashes? Orange and green explosions? Did anyone even proof those things before they went out? (And never mind the gauze filters that Lucas went to the trouble of using on ANH... those were wiped out by automated digital remastering processes years ago.)

The oversaturation actually makes me less inclined to pick a Star Wars film from the shelf these days. Well, that and the fact I never have time to watch movies anymore. Man, I've spent two months trying to get through the Firefly series. I have a to-watch list so long it hurts. Fortunately I have seen the original three Star Wars movies so many times that I don't really need to watch them as I can replay them in my head while doing something else lol.
