@rebelscum If you are still updating your synopsis, I recommend adding the new plot detail of Maisie Richardson's character, possibly the Emissary, who is on a top secret mission from Leia at the pub until she gets blown up, which does not stop her from being in 3-4 scenes, possibly because she is (as we have known all along) the daughter of Obi Wan. This has been confirmed by wetpaint.com, which I should know because I have 10 million Viggle Points.

In the most friendly way possible, I will not stand for any child of Obi-Wan existing. I appreciate your posts. Obi-Wan is a Republic Jedi. No mm mm. ..In the uh uh for him. Otherwise: dark side medical insurance premiums.

Thanks for the heads up...I added some of these details. With 3-4 scenes, that makes her a candidate to be a main character. Based on MSW rumors, she'd be in the movie more than most of the actors at the read-through....

So far I have read of at least about 200 characters and/or actions that are "pivotal" to the plot. Pivoting seems to be a major theme of this movie.

MSW's new post on Leia has a bunch of tidbits which could be added.

Apparently, now the rumor is that the heroes first go to Rose before going to the Rebel base. Piecing together everything I've heard, it happens something like this:

    - While hanging out with Rose, they run outside and see a moon blow up. Rey watches from the woods as Kylo and his gang of Seven descend on the Pub and castle.

    - They run back into the Pub and through a secret passage underground.

    - Rose uses her special skills to fight Stormtroopers in the tunnels.

    - The Pub blows up, and the castle next to the Pub blows up.

    - The gang stays on the planet despite the siege, waiting patiently for something.

    - Leia shows up to collect the body of her pivotally important Emissary, and has an awkward encounter with Han.

    - Leia is very proud of her new superweapon, the Sledgehammer.

    - Leia enters the lightsaber discussion by taking it for herself, but Rose convinces her to give it to Finn, who is inexperienced yet eager to wield it. But this is really just to give it to Rey, because she is the chosen one.

    - Then they all go to the Rebel base together, when they realize they forgot Rey in the woods.

That's about all I've got. I threw in a few interpretations and visualization aids, but that's really what the plot seems to be at this point in the movie.

On the subject of the rumoured release date shift, how's this for a mystery box of tricks:

    - The release date was ALWAYS going to be Summer, but we were told December.

    - The rumours we're all hearing are misdirection, intended to make us BELIEVE we know what's coming.

    - The date move request is a subterfuge, intended to make us CERTAIN we know what's coming.

    - The film comes out in Summer, as was ALWAYS intended.

    - And we knew NOTHING all along!

This would explain the very, very early teaser and the toy lines even now being hawked around retail outlets, etc.

The man could just be that genius....

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that - if they forgot Rey in the woods until they get to the alliance base - she's either not a Solo or that is EXHIBIT A as to Kylo Ren's gripe about their parents.

Looking at Disney's schedule, Aug and Sept has nothing planned. If they wanted to maximize the box office, they should release it in Aug when kids are still on summer break in the US.

I know this is a string the plot thread but came up with a logline to summarize TFA. Hope it's ok

Han Solo and three young adventurers must keep a powerful artifact out of a deadly new foe's hands by delivering it to Luke Skywalker who is missing.

I take your point but I doubt Han would make a quite approach to the keeping it out of sight as for Luke missing thats another story I guess they better hand these out.

It was just an idea from the rumors. I'm sure I'm way off.

Hi there, long time lurker and fan checking in. I know this place gets overwhelmed on a daily basis with threads and what not, so hopefully this is the appropriate place to share my thoughts. I did not want to contribute to the clutter! Warning: semi-rambling post ahead.

Anyhoo, I've been thinking a lot about the rumors surrounding Luke's involvement and how his absence will drive a large part of the story. A part of me thinks, and would like to see, a Luke in the new trilogy that does not have children. Why? There are a few reason, mainly because I think it makes him a more interesting and vulnerable character if he's chosen a life of isolation based off his experiences in the OT.

Think about it. The force as far as we know (Disclaimer: I am not up to snuff on the lore like many others so I very well may be talkin' out my bum) is hereditary and has caused a great deal of turmoil for Luke, his family, and those around him, innocent or not. Now we know the force isn't inherently good or bad, and it's the person wielding it you must consider, but I would have major MAJOR reservations about having children with this kind of universe-shattering power. Especially if his genetic line is already predisposed to falling to one side or the other (see Dad). That scenario of 'what if?', 'what if my children are like dad?' I would imagine might be a huge deterrent from him ever having kids. Even if you're confident in your abilities as a parent that would scare me to my core.

To me a Luke who goes through ANH and ROTJ would share this skepticism and resist the impulse to have children - which brings me to point #2. I really REALLY hope "Rey" and "Kylo" are both Solo/Organas, and I hope one goes very, very dark at some point, forcing Luke into action. Yea it might sound cliche, and I know something similar exists in the EU, but I truly believe it's the most powerful narrative tool at their disposal in writing a compelling story to kick off the new trilogy. Now we have Luke, who is 'gone', forced into action and having to confront all the fears, doubts and insecurities that he's shunned in his own way. Now it's not just him paying the price so to speak for this gift, but his family, family that desperately needed his presence and guidance.

Anyways uhh back to my cave. Thanks for reading.

Hi @Boethius and welcome to the Cantina. I agree with you that I hope we have offspring of Han Solo/Leia rather than Luke, mainly due to the fact that Han/Leia's love connection is already established in the OT. Even though Disney/Lucasfilm could flesh out a love story with Luke and another character, they would probably due so through spin-offs, fiction, or comics, and it won't have the same dramatic weight. This in addition to all the reasons you mentioned.
