The Awaking that Snoke sense is from....

He sensed Han Solo awakening from the dead .

 

My take was that the force was balanced by Anakin/Luke. The prophecy was fulfilled. And years later, starting maybe before or around Episode VII, the force started to awaken again, potentially becoming unbalanced with the light side and the dark side again.

 

The Force is Awakening and manifesting in Rey. There's a reason Rey kicked some Kylo Ren ass... the force flowing through her much more strongly. It would be awesome if this trilogy is about the Skywalkers and how they bring back the light side and a new Jedi order to fight back the Dark.

 

Luke decided to actually get dressed that day instead of walking around in his PJs.

Seriously, it's interesting that Snoke doesn't specify an awakening on either side: light or dark. The next thing he says is that the droid is on board the Falcon with Han. So, I think Snoke just means that the cosmic force is awakening. There's serendipity afoot, and it could go either way. A win for the dark side if Kylo axes Han, or a win for the light if he doesn't. There's just some greater machination at work, I think is what he feels. I can't vote for the cosmic force though, add it to the list.

 

I like the idea that the pull of the light is Anakin but I guess it's Rey (the light) and ... well who would he refer to for the dark? Or did they remove that part from the first teaser dialogue?
Maybe the new villain in VIII?

I saw the "cosmic Force" listed as an option... (I really hate the name, and the explanation in the Clone Wars)

Yeah I'm with the poster who said the awakening is not attached to a specific person, the force is just beginning to move. Though I do think that the force is being manifested in both Finn and Rey.

Perhaps it is this awakening that causes Kylo to feel the pull of the light?

And possibly this awakening is related to something Luke is doing on his island?

 

There should have definitely been a Finn and Rey option here because both are force sensitive. Finn awoke during the assault on Jakku, Rey when she touched the lightsaber. The difference between the two seems to be that Rey has been trained in the past, and Finn is where Luke was minus Obi Wan to guide him.

I viewed the movie today (for the third time). At Maz's place, Finn senses screams from the Republic before the planet(s) are destroyed. I actually made a point to pay attention during this segment because of others who noted this. He hears the screams, then the beams from starkiller reach the Republic's planet, and they begin to scream as their planet is destroyed.

I then actively listened/viewed the reactions of people on Takodana. They never screamed or yelled. Rey looks up, others look up, but they don't scream. This says to me that Finn sensed the event just before it actually happens.

 

I was torn between Finn and Finn/Rey. Finn even more than Rey. Without Finn nothing changes. But clearly both are involved though Rey shows more overtly.

 

Wrong the force awoke in Finn during the assault on the village not when they escaped jakku.

 

I know the EU is no longer cannon, but they are cherry picking some stuff from it. Assuming Snoke is Darth Plaguies (and I know that's a big assumption), the awakening he is referring to is the force. When he attempted to create life way back when he felt the force push back against him (or so the book said). It could be that the force has been dormant but, for some reason, is now working against him. That would explain how things just seem to have fallen into place (the Falcon being there when it would be needed, etc.).

It appears the forces of darkness have been unopposed for a while, but now they have true opposition. Luke Skywalker, Jedi master and his new apprentice, Rey. Episode VIII is going to be fantastic!

 

That was Jakku, it was a different village on that planet, but we are talking about the same point in time.
