After the last two episodes of The Bad Batchepisodes 6 and 7 felt like 'the shot in the arm' the season needed. Even though I still enjoyed the previous, slower-paced episodes, the action sequences in 'Infiltration' and 'Extraction' helped provide the series more momentum going forward.

There's a lot to discuss for this episode. There are returning characters, thrilling chases, tensions among the protagonists, and a secret assassin who may prove to be more than just your run-of-the-mill mysterious killer. Let's get right into it.

    Spoilers below ...

Starting at the top, Captain Rex reappears for the first time in the final season. I predicted last week on SWNN Live! (our live-streamed podcast) that someone big needed to appear here to get the plot going again, and I'm glad to see Rex be the one to do so. He's not the only returning clone, as Howzer and Wolffe also make an appearance. Howzer's distrust shows how Crosshair might have earned back the trust of the squad, but not of the other clones.

But for me, the real highlight of these two episodes was the masked assassin. Having a character keep up with and prove to be a challenge against the squad was a sight to see. In both episodes, the main characters were kept on their back foot the entire time.

That being said, this individual's combat prowess does raise the question of, 'Who is this person?' While we have seen this type of assassin to be deadly and elusive, seeing them perform these impressive feats (like shooting a ship out of the sky and surviving a dive off a waterfall) makes me wonder if this could be another significant character fans may know of. I initially thought this could be Asajj Ventress. I thought the armor looked vaguely familiar like her armor seen in the trailer, and that it'd be fitting if she reappeared on the planet of Teth (the same location where she reappeared in The Clone Wars movie). But I'm slowly starting to rethink that theory. Is it someone unique? Could it even be Tech? Or do we have another Marrok situation on our hands? Let us know in the comments below.

Lastly, I want to talk about the last few moments in the second episode. While fans of Star Wars: Rebels know that Wolffe and Rex will eventually see eye-to-eye, it was uncertain if that'd occur here or not. But Wolffe proved himself to be a strong leader in this episode, and in the end confrontation. He showed how he's someone that Rex could eventually turn to his side. Seeing how Wolffe and the rest of the clones under him were fine with letting Rex go, it shows how other clones are possibly getting fed up with the Empire. This eventually will lead to where we see Wolffe in Rebels, fighting against the Empire.

Like I mentioned last week, we know who and what's still waiting for us in the wing. Asajj Ventress, Fennec Shand, Cad Bane, and more. At the moment, it still feels like a slow buildup. But I think the slow buildup will be worth it once the bigger explosions go off. As more episodes pass us by, that means the final episodes will be all the more loaded with big reveals.

Lucasfilm also revealed today a bunch of new character posters:
