    Is Gilligan subconsciously trying to tell us something? What's the deal with the Skipper? Why does Ginger have so many clothes if it was just a 3 hour tour? Why did the Howells bring suitcases full of money? This is the one place where it is safe to discuss these things. Enjoy!

    I'm eagerly anticipating @Snazel 's thoughts here, but I'll take a stab to start:

    I think everyone on the boat was trying to run away from something: Ginger was on the run for murdering her agent, the Howell's were feeling the country to avoid the IRS, the Professor was run out of town for sleeping with Mary Anne who was an underage coed at the time of the offense, and the Skipper was the greedy SOB who agreed to take them all (possibly planning on killing them all for the Howell's money).

    Gilligan was the only pure one, and sabotaged the boat/drove them into the storm that caused them all to crash on the Island and work together; ironically, each person then had a hand in keeping them all on the island, as no one had any real motivation for returning.

    That's my shot in the dark, but it's pretty general. What're your ideas?

    I just googled "Gillligan Conspiracy Theories" and fell down an endless wormhole. Personally I really like yours @Luuke22 because it is really original and makes a lot of sense! The other one I like is where all of the characters on the Island are representative of the 7 deadly Sins.

    The Professor: Pride
    Mary Ann: Envy (Of Ginger)
    Ginger: Lust (Duh)
    Thurston Howell the Third: Greed
    Mrs. Howell: Sloth
    The Skipper: Anger AND Gluttony

    And then Gilligan who is pure! Or completely evil, depending on your perspective.

    Phew; might as well rename it Dante's Island! lol. I can see it though.

    My other theory is that they're actually on the island from Lost :p
