We know that the Inquisitorious played a important roles in the old SW RPGs. Detailed information can be found on this group in the Sourcebook. This material is no longer considered canon, yet based on what we've seen so far in Rebels, the old RPG is a source they have drawn from more than once. Earlier, someone mentioned that Ezra referred to tge Empire sending "AN" Inquisitor to Lothal. It's possible that this line oukd be over-analyzed. However, with the Storygroup poring over everything, I doubt it. Tgis has also been speculated on during some podcasts I listen to regularly.

Is there only one Inquisitor, or is he merely top dog in a group? After all it is a large galaxy. We also know the Inquisitor's mission is not only to hunt down potential Jedi, but also to find new force users to convert to the Dark Side (the Children of the Force pertains to more than just Luke and Leia methinks).

Some people have mentioned Bariss Offee being one. The Filoni connection doesn't hurt this theory. Zare's sister, Dhara could be one who's being encouraged to turn. (It sure seems implied to me between show and the Servants of the Empire series she is Force-sensitive. Who else could fall into this group? I seriously doubt either Vos or Ventress. Furthermore, will this be connected to TFA in ways large or subtle? Who trains them? Does Vader or the Inquisitor we know (if it's a group)? Your thoughts Cantina-mates/brethren ...?

I hope we find out more in season 2. I take ezra at his word and judging from vizago's reaction, they both seem to know that inquisitors are common.

Do you remember that episode from TCW where Cad Bane is hired by Sidious to steal the Jedi Holocron that contains a list of the force sensitives of the galaxy? He took them to Mustafar and the children were cared by a scientist droid. Maybe this is a clue.

When I first saw that episode, I thought it was nod to the Emperor's hands.

But I think you are right. That was the seeds to the inquisition.

I forgot to answer the "and who trains them" from the OP. Vader, for sure. The extended version of the pilot showed that the inquisitor reports directly to Vader.

True about the scene with Vader. This is wild conjecture for sure, but perhaps the Emperor began to have concerns about Vader handling the Inquisitors. The Sith love their power-playing game. Perhaps at some point the Emperor begins to see enough of a potential threat of being overthrown, that he shuts down or takes control of the group. The mystery figure from Darth Vader #1 seemed to have what could be considered "Sith" eyes. I wonder if Palpy "shut down" the program, ie took over operations clandestinely behind Vader's back. Maybe mystery man is the head Inquisitor. It's clear Sheev is keeping something big from Vader. It will be interesting to see how Rebels handles the Inquisitor(s) moving forward.

I think who leads the inquisitors is tied into what Darth Vaders "official" role in the empire probably is.

Thefact he and the emperor are sith arent well known, and I find it likely vader is officially the "high" or "grand" inquisitor.
