So in the OT Leia Organa was the princess of Alderaan right?
This would mean that sometime after Revenge of the Sith Senator Bail Organa would have become the king of Alderaan...
Yeah I don't know if this makes any sense or not...
    Regardless, DISCUSS!

Padme was elected Queen of Naboo. Stands to reason that princess could be an elected position that serves ambassadorial duties to the senate. When we had just the OT I assumed she was royalty, but after the PT I’m not so sure. Could just be her title as a diplomat.

I don't think Bail was the King but a member of the Royal Family. Wookieepedia says he was the Viceroy of Alderaan.

Bail was married to the Queen of Alderaan, Breha. He is like Prince Phillip is to Queen Elizabeth of England, not considered King as she is the heir to the throne.
With that being said, would it have been strange if Leia would have risen to Queen, being adopted and not a blood relative although everyone thought her to be?

A "viceroy" is literally a vice-king, i.e. someone reigning on behalf of a monarch; a deputy king if you pleace. "Princess" is a looser term, which can be used about any woman related to nobles, including being a non-noble married to a nobleman. Still, this is Star Wars so who knows. The Queendome of Amidala is quite weird in itself, and if Leia inherited nobiliy through her (post-term as a monarch) things get weirder still. (Not to mention that it would be very unwise to spirit the princess away and then continue to call her princess if she inherited titles from her mother. It is more likely that Leia was designated princess on the grounds of her stepfather being a vice-king (or this could simply be a cover for her "real" nobility if one were to accept Amidala as a proper noble instead of one who served a term in a noble office for a bit - but yeah... George is a bit strange when it comes to nobility it seems ;) ).

Well considering she married Han a smuggler in 9 aby the royal title could not be passed to her. I couldn't see Han leaving the royal life scoundrels sometimes can't.

Well... I suppose Tarkin blowing up Alderaan let them skip the whole "royalty of Alderaan and a commoner" debacle then. Silver lining.

Seems odd... It's just a constitutional monarchy with elections, or what? Seems to me it'd be more just like any other elected head official or a government, just with a fancy name and more flair.

Though, the thought of a monarch that is relevant to the country (elected or not) is at least easier to comprehend than some of the existing monarchies in which the monarch is stripped of essentially all powers, serving just for ceremonial purposes yet still being treated with special exemption.

Hm... possibly a foreshadowing of the ST. What will Leia do when she gets power? And with force-sensitivity at that?! Grim tidings.

Note: I don't actually buy into that whole "Leia turns Dark Side" stuff.

I find it strange but cool. Padme needs to be at least 19 like Leia is in A New Hope, 14 was odd. And Anakin needed to be more like 12 :p

Well in the novels she was elected chief of state twice while battling the imperials after TROTJ. She learned to adapt.

Same here but I've had to learn outside of the games sometimes it passes the times for me. Her terms of chief of state were during the thrawn & yuuzhan vong period she resigned in 25 aby due to the imminent war.
