SPECULATION The Last Jedi favorite theories

Finn Skywalker - because it would throw everyone for a loop, and I need something to campaign since the tinfoil Game of Thrones theories I liked were wrong. I mean, this one's probably wrong too, but I'll campaign it nonetheless!!

Most likely to happen...maybe that the "New Jedi Massacre" was a more complicated situation than we were led to believe. Whether that means Rey's parents were students that either Kylo Ren or Luke killed, or something else, I don't know. But I don't think it'll be straightforward.

 

I like the idea that Rey has to pass some tests to even stay on the planet.


That Luke earned his residency and part of the reason the temple has remained secluded is the wildlife chases off or kills those who just drop by and shouldn't be there because something important and secret lies in wait for Jedi to return and rediscover what makes the planet special. I like the idea that Luke has continued to train & study while there and has known on some level he was going to get found and pulled back into the fray. Luke not being involved in TFA and Rey being...close to ideal...those concepts weren't explained in TFA at all really. I think Rey was a youngling of Luke's and she was tucked away because...well I'm not sure. Her ending up on the same planet as the MF is an insane coincidence that can't be a coincidence.

I think the most likely theory is that we learn who the KOR are and that they will have a confrontation with Rey & Luke at some point in TLJ.

 

Rey being related to a OT character, it would be something.

 

- Luke (and Ben) killed Rey's parents because they were dark side users (=> that would be an interesting dynamic between Luke and Rey)
- Kylo and Rey switch sides at the end of TLJ (it's not very likely but Rey will be tempted by the dark side)
- Snoke = Plagueis

 

I like the idea of Kylo's training involving finding/locating Vader's lightsaber to counter Rey with Anakin's. Love the idea that those two blades are destined to dual once more.

 

I like that idea, but I think it's more interesting if Kylo is forced to reinvent himself, and his lightsaber, after the events of VII. No matter what his character arc is going to be extremely interesting, but I'd rather him move away from Vader and start to become his own character.

 

A Anakin hologram built into his old lightsaber in a final message to Luke.

 

a gargantuan black hole opens up and swallows the entire galaxy. ST done. ep 9 will just be 128 minutes of blank screen. you can take that to the bank.

 

Anakin is Rey _ Kylo is Vader.

Funny to see that Ben Solo was conceived the night Vader was burnt.

Just my own theory...or hope, I guess. I would love to see a scene similar to ESB where Rey wants to get back to help her friends or even back to Jakku and Luke tells her to be patient and complete her training. Only, Rey turns the tables on Luke and says she's not like him, not going to hide and let his friends and family suffer like he has all these years. She wants to go and help Finn and Leia. She might even leave or be stopped by the KOR before she can...again, just my own theory/hope.

 

Oh I forgot this happening during the OT and we're Inside Out Anakin/Vader mind.

This is how Rey and Artoo saved the day during the OT and fullfilled the prophecy of the chosen one.

R+L=J+M mostly - because without any other surprise sibling, the plot reveal is so normal! Cool and exciting, but normal. I also liked the idea that Dany wasn't a Targ (or the books at least; Ashara Dayne feeds so many theories!)

 

And then, recalling Bespin, Luke would go along with her seeing as he was never the patient one himself (and because if there's going to be a showdown like the one he had with Vader, she'll need all the help she can get).

My own personal hope is that, considering that there is no gap between TFA and TLJ, it ends with a cliffhanger reminiscent of the one in TESB, with Rey being captured by the First Order, with IX picking up years later. That would certainly allow for the growth of arcs that we don't see coming (and I'm still seeing a lot of possible similarities between Korra and Rey at this point).

 

Hope Rey is Kenobi (not necessarily a direct descendant of Ben but a blood relative).

 

Fate of the galaxy will be decided with a dance off between gungans and ewoks
