The magic of SW in TLJ

Red font for "Star Wars" will be used only for TLJ's marketing. In the film, the title card and the opening crawl will use standard yellow font (confirmed by Rian Johnson some time ago.) Besides, for their respective marketing campaigns, TESB used blue font for the title, while ROTJ and ROTS used red.

For me the last line is a red herring. The line was cut at the end so that the message of the sentence is more dramatic or maybe it was stitched from two completely ynrelated sentences. The Jedi Order will be fine at the end of Episode VIII. Maybe its members won't be numerous but it will exist. Think of it like... (please, don't let anyone start a pointless rant about that and some very deeply hidden racism) the situation with Finn in TFA trailers. He was the one that used the blue lightsaber and while I always had a feeling that the girl character (meaning Rey) will be the new Jedi of this trilogy, many people thought Finn would be the one. In the final film we found out he was... a guy that used the blue lightsaber, so be careful.

 

The magic will only increase.

 

The Last Jedi seems to be heavy on magic. It seems we're going to explore the mythology in a deeper way than ever before, and that fantasy elements will played up in order to do this.

I'm pretty excited. I think this is the SW movie we've been looking for.

 

It will only continuing the magic of TFA, so the magic will remain.

 

I'd even say that TFA and ESB are the most magical movies in the SW universe with the most mystery and mystical qualities. I have a feeling that TLJ will be taking it to a whole new level. Especially considering the now famous passage from the Journal of the Whills in the novelization of The Force Awakens.

 

Ah, as for magic I'm not sure weather you meant the 'magic' of the origional trilogy, as in, the magic feeling it gives us.

Or the literal space magic, eg the force. I think TFA did a good job of capturing the 'magic' from the OT, and as for force magic it stepped it up a bunch. Kylo Rens powers were so much more interesting a dynamic than anything we've seen in the films before. and the forceback was amazing.

I think The Last Jedi will be heavy on force magic, more than any other film. having said that I predict it will be a flashy-er kind of magic than ESB more spiritual dialog heavy magic, that Yoda explained to luke. I think in TLJ it will be more visceral and visual shown to us via forcebacks and visions.

I'm hyped about the magic element of this film. But I also think that the cinematic 'magic' of the OT will be less focused on than in TFA or Rogue One, as this film will need to be a little less of a nostalgia fest and stand up on its own unique feeling. so I don't think this film will feel as classically 'star wars' in a nostalgic way. I'm not ruling out it being a re-hash of ESB, I just don't think it will rest so heavily on the idea of showing us the old star wars 'magic' such as the old ships, fammiliar lines and so on.

 

Yeah. TFA is at the same level of the OT in my opinion. The most important thing were the creation of the new characters, strong ones. Also sequences like the Takodana castle, the aliens inside and the posterior battle are better than all Jabba's Palace introduction and rescue of Han Solo.
So, TLJ will continues exploring the great new characters already created. Hard to think that the things will not work for this movie. I have good feelings about the sucess of TLL.

 

Mystery itself plays a much more important role in the sequel trilogy. Many things are left unexplained or their interpretation remains open ended, much more even than in the OT and especially more than the prequels.

 

I think it's too early to tell if things are changing for better or worse but depending on what we are being shown before the movie is released, it's disney's way of a reboot without a reboot

The magic will only increase.the magic of SW lies in the concept of the force and the Jedi and in the use of lightsabers.all of it will be sufficiently explored.

 

Yes! This movie will be the center of the Star Wars galaxy.

 

Looking at the idea of "Ending" the Jedi I wonder if the intent is to pull in multiple different types of force users. There is a Church of the Force, Chirrut the blind master from the Guardians of the Whills, Shaman of the Whills, Night Sisters, Bendu, and I forget what they are called but there was a sect that used the force that Mace and JarJar were trying to save from the Night Sisterss.

The Force itself was designed to be very synchronistic borrowing from many religions but it is a single system so it is possible that they want to add different styles of philosophical expression. This allows for new and different powers, as well as points of view.
