The full list of directors and their respective episodes for The Mandalorian season 3 has been confirmed by Disney. Check out the list here:

    • Episode 1 directed by Rick Famuyiwa
    • Episode 2 directed by Rachel Morrison
    • Episode 3 directed by Lee Isaac Chung
    • Episode 4 directed by Carl Weathers
    • Episode 5 directed by Peter Ramsey
    • Episode 6 directed by Bryce Dallas Howard
    • Episode 7 directed by Rick Famuyiwa
    • Episode 8 directed by Rick Famuyiwa

It's especially interesting that the production briefing released by Disney that included this list of directors did not include any mention of the writers for the season. Only Jon Favreau is listed there as writer, despite a listing on the Writers Guild of America's website a couple of months ago that had Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor as co-writers on episodes 4 and 7, and 3, respectively. It's possible that the guild was too quick to post the list before all the details were finalized, and that Jon Favreau will end up as the sole writer for the entire season.

For now, we will assume that Noah Kloor, who was part of the writers' room of The Book of Boba Fett had some input on the third episode of the season, and the same with Filoni on episodes 4 and 7, but we will have to wait for the credits to roll on those episodes to really find out.

The Mandalorian season 3 returns with new episodes on Wednesday, March 1. Stay tuned for our review of each individual episode on Wednesday morning (ET/PT), and if you haven't already, check out our own Mandalorian warm-up live show on YouTube.

Here's my read from the list of Season 3's directors:
    1. Given Filoni's focus on Ahsoka, Rick Famuyiwa has stepped into his co-showrunner role with Jon Favreau. IMO, last season's The Believer, written and directed by Rick is one of the series best.
    2. Hmmmm...Ryan Coogler's cinematograher? It'll be interesting to see what she's able to do with her visuals using The Volume.
    3. Lee Issac Chung makes his Star Wars debut. My gut says this could be a very emotional episode.
    4. Expect Carl Weathers to direct another "bing bing bing" action-heavy episode.
    5. A co-director of Spider-man into the Spiderverse goes live-action Star Wars. Word is he directed one of the Ahsoka episodes too.
    6. Expect Episode 6 to be another one of the series best. I *love* Bryce Dallas Howard as a Director!

So, I really don't want to start reading things into the season or making assumptions based on this, but... Carl Weathers directs episode 4. Could this mean that he has directed an episode that he does not also act in? That would be a big deal!
Bear with me. 99.9% chance that the clip with him and Mando is from episode 1, and Mando is preparing for his trip to Mandalore. So unless we don't get to Mandalore until the second half of the season, it's unlikely Greef Karga would be in episode 4... Maybe. It just seems to be a step further into directing if that's your only focus in the episode...
I am with you completely. So glad she's getting some Love. I saw some negativity about her direction in Episode 4, but I thought that was a great episode, and The Heiress is a Top 5 for me. I also loved her further entrenching herself in the Galaxy by voicing Yaddle in Tales of the Jedi. I hope we will see more of her in that role as well.

I think one of the problems with fan reaction to Episode 4 is that it came on the heels of the three-part story that opened the series. It was always going to be tough to follow that act. But that episode had some pretty cool action scenes -- including visual callbacks to Jurassic World. That episode has 'gotten better' in my mind over time.

The Heiress is one of my all-time favorite Mando episodes. Great from start (Apollo 13-style reentry) to finish (a piece of the ship breaking off as the Razor Crest flys off).
