The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer Released at D23

    The first trailer for The Mandalorian season 3 has officially been released online after it was screened for attendees of the Lucasfilm presentation at D23. Check it out here:

    For those wondering, this is the same trailer that was first shown to Star Wars Celebration audiences back in May, during the 'Mando+' panel on Saturday. It is the extended version of a trailer that had screened two days earlier, which ended with Bo-Katan talking to Grogu. And courtesy of Kristian Harloff, here is Giancarlo Esposito during the panel:

    The cast of the third season, including Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Sedaris, Katee Sackhoff, and Emily Swallow, as well as executive producers Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, and Rick Famuyiwa, came out on stage to introduce the new season. Famuyiwa started by saying that he went to film school because of George Lucas, something that should tell us everything we need to know about how passionate he is about this project. He then added:



    Famuyiwa directed two episodes on season 1, another episode on season 2, and is back for season 3 directing at least two episodes -- he also got a promotion to executive producer on the show.



    Giancarlo Esposito also took the mic, as seen in the video above, and gave an impassionate speech, which he capped off by teasing what's coming next for Moff Gideon:

    No specific release date has been confirmed for The Mandalorian season 3 yet, but they announced at Star Wars Celebration that it would be coming out in February 2023. Stay tuned for more news on The Mandalorian and everything coming out of D23!

    So is this pretty much the trailer from Celebration, or is there more/different material? (It was hard to tell with the potato-quality of the one I saw from Celebration. :p)

    I heard on one of the SW youtube channels that Favreau and Filoni called out a volunteer group of cos-play Mandalorians (I forget the name) that operates like the 501 Legion does that appeared in Season One, Episode 8.

    After (IMO) a weak and disappointing second season, I really have to say I like what I am seeing in this trailer. This season seems to be more serious and kinda darker. It looks like there's an actual story to follow. Furthermore you can never have enough Babu Frik.

    I like what I see in that trailer too. But that said, I suspect about 99.9% of the The Mandalorian's audience disagrees with your take on the Second Season. :)

    That's fine. But this is a thread about the exciting release of the Mando Season 3 trailer.

    Just as you don't care what most Mando fanatics here think, I suspect they don''t particularly care to hear you opine that last season was "weak and disappointing." There are other threads for that if you feel so inclined.

    I'm curious how Mando 3 is going to be received. It's the only major series ever that had major events take place in another series. I wonder how many people actually don't know Grogu is back. I loved season 2, but the choice to end it with Luke/Grogu is odd given how it played out in Boba Fett. Those last 3 episodes of Fett could have very easily worked as the first 3 episodes of Mando 3.

    True, but because of those last 3 episodes of Fett, the world is getting a much-anticipated, heavily-watched Season 3 trailer featuring Grogu and Din together. The two of them together in the trailer are the Big Money shots for Disney+. :)

    Wow, it's ironic that a statement like this comes from you... I don't get why you always try to start an argument. I just implied that even though I was disappointed about the previous season this teaser trailer actually made me excited again. Isn't that a good thing?
