According to information now available on Spotify, Walt Disney Records plans to release The Mandalorian Season 3, Volume 1 (Chapters 17-20) soundtrack album tomorrow, March 29 (hat tip r/StarWarsLeaks). The album includes musical themes by Ludwig Göransson , score by Joseph Shirley, and caps out at 19 songs. It will be available digitally. We expect Volume 2 will be released after season 3 wraps up.

Joseph Shirley is becoming a reliable name in Hollywood with Star Wars titles, such as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett under his belt, as well as Creed III, now in theaters. Certainly, it seems he has a close working relationship with Ludwig Göransson, who he worked with as part of Göransson’s team on season 1 and season 2 of The Mandalorian. Göransson is still credited for the use of his original themes, with Shirley taking over as main composer.

The score so far has received positive feedback from fans, in particular for the seamless weaving of some sequel trilogy score elements that have led to raised eyebrows and speculation, such as the use of Snoke's theme in Chapter 19. Shirley’s experience working on seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian have paid off, and the score for season 3 matches the natural expansion of the narrative so far. I’m sure that growth will continue to become apparent as we enter the second half of the season.

You can find The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 soundtrack albums, released in 2019 and 2020 respectively, on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music, and more. For more on The Mandalorian, check out all our current coverage here.
