We are now officially less than two months away from the release of The Mandalorian season 3. Din Djarin's next adventure promises to be the biggest yet, and Moff Gideon wasn't going to sit it out. Giancarlo Esposito has been teasing his character's involvement in the new season for a long time, and with the release of his new Netflix series Kaleidoscope, he's back at it again.

Speaking to TV Line, Esposito confirmed that, even though he didn't appear in the teaser trailer, Moff Gideon will have a large presence in the third season:

Shortly after Star Wars Celebration, Esposito confirmed that he will be behind bars at the beginning of the season, but he will eventually break out and start causing havoc. Plot details are being kept under wraps, including how Gideon will factor into the plot, but we do know that Din Djarin and Grogu are going to Mandalore, where Bo-Katan is seemingly waiting for them. From what we've seen so far, it seems like this new season will finally explore in depth what it means to be a Mandalorian, with Bo-Katan and the Armorer advocating for polar-opposite ideologies and Din Djarin being caught in the middle.

Esposito also said last year that Moff Gideon really wants to be a Mandalorian, which could hint at him visiting the planet after he's escaped from prison and trying to get back what was once his: the Darksaber. More details are sure to pop up over the next few weeks as the marketing campaign starts to ramp up. A new trailer is likely coming our way soon, and before we know it, we'll be inundated with interviews and press coverage from the upcoming season, which has been described as the most expansive yet.

The Mandalorian season 3 will be released on Disney Plus on March 1, 2023.
