The real Trio?

Hello Cantina! What a great movie!

I've been wanting to post a thread about TFA but have had so much to absorb and I still need to see it again, but I want to talk about the relationship between Finn, Rey and Kylo.

As I Iook at all the threads posted recently, some people are disappointed by the lack of "power or skill that Finn has" and I completely disagree.

Obviously Rey, is extremely force sensitive, but we still don't know if Finn is or ins't. Finn could wield a lightsaber decently compared to someone who never has. Also he picked up the turret gun pretty quick and was the first to use the lightsaber.

Kylo on the other hand is POWERFUL with the force. You can't deny that when seeing his ability to read minds and stop laser fire. However he is young and afraid and chokes under pressure. His insecurity about not living up to Vader is his downfall. I believe Kylo is extremely powerful with the force--some of his powers we have never seen--but I feel he does not know Vader was redeemed and that's why he feels like a failure when he is pulled to the light side. This pull to light side eventually keeps him from killing Rey when he had the chance. Which bring me to my next thought.

Kylo is incredibly fond of Rey. This I cannot put my finger on why. First, when he is notified about Rey, Finn and BB8 he screams "WHAT GIRL!?" why is this? Does he know of some force sensitive girl somewhere? Possibly trained when she was very little? Or has he felt a deep connection to her before either through the force or blood? Either that or he is really sexist. Also, his skeptical "just" a scavenger he says to Rey as well as taking his helmet off for her. He either speculates something about her or knows something about her. He is very interested in her.

So the relationship between Rey and Kylo I think will control the direction of this entire trilogy. This is where Finn plays in. First, I think Finn may still have force powers but not as strong as Rey. I like to parallel him to Kanan from rebels. Second, either Rey may feel her connection to Kylo and be persuaded or vice verse, Kylo persuaded to Rey. However Finn will be the character that keeps Rey in her moral conscious. His abandonment of the first order and friendship from Rey will help Rey in the darkest of times. It will also help Rey control her power. What pops into my head is Frodo and Sam. i believe Finn will be Rey's Sam. He will be the unsung hero and carry Rey's load to keep her in the light. He understands the evil of the first order. Moreover, Kylo will understand this as well and try to fix it in whatever means necessary.

Altogether GREAT movie! I loved it! Let me know you guys think!

 

I agree I think Finn will get just as much screen time as Rey but he will be the unsung hero. With him no one notices as much, but without him everything falls apart. Even when Rey got tossed by Kylo, Finn steps up to Kylo to save Rey and give her time. True friend.
