No idea.....but Hux has the best comedy line in the film.

In fact, you could argue on that basis....he was one of the best characters in the film.

Your comments/concerns about how this movie undid Anakin’s accomplishments is similar to how I felt. However, once they decided to do a sequel trilogy, I figured they had no choice. If there was going to be a big bad force user (which to me feels like a baseline Star Wars requirement), the dark side would have to have power and the force be out of balance.

That said, sure there could have been another big bad other than Palpetine which would have meant Anakin still destroyed Palpetine. But as soon as the ST was announced, we all should have been prepare for there to be at least some fraying of the Chosen One prophecy.

The other option would have been related to another one of your points. If there was a Hayden force ghost scene where he just gave Rey some tidbit, he could have been viewed as having a role in the final destruction of Palpetine. That might have satisfied some of the people who are bothered by TROS’s implications for Anakin.

I also agree defeating Palpetine was easy. How did she do it? She just out force strengthen him? Not a big issue in my book that undermines the movie, but it was an aspect that made me question what I was seeing more than I wanted to.

Yeah, I'm with you. I didn't like TLJ, but had high hopes for a solid finish and I just... am struggling to find the what to say. I don't think "new" ST Star Wars is for me and I should stick with 1-6. I mean, killing off the entire Skywalker bloodline and have a Palpatine, A PALPATINE, take the name and everything else is too much for me. I don't even have the energy or will to argue with anyone over this anymore. Just ... wow.:(

You don't have to like every film in the Skywalker Saga, but it's both nonsensical and silly to pretend that parts of it don't exist.

It's basically going "la la la I can't hear you", and says more about you than it does about the films themselves.

Now I need to see the film again (tonight), but I dont believe we were told how Palpatine survived ROTJ. Did I miss it? It seems to me that he somehow survived and was taken by someone to his current location where he started building up his new fleet with help of some sort of minions. I assume that is all the people in the arena like location.

I look forward to stories about this whole thing.

Now I also want to add if we nitpick to much we do a disservice to ourselves. Lets look at another huge blockbuster this year. Avengers:Endgame. I believe they did a horrible job with the time travel stuff. What they awesome do with things in MCU is use large amounts of technical jargon that sound like physics and science and people just go with it. I found the explanations in Endgame awful, just awful and then they also just ignored the need to return the stones. That would have been as difficult or even more difficult to accomplish and that part of the story was Captain America just did it and didnt return until he was very old and somehow didnt change the timeline. We could dwell on that and scream about it even. Why would that be fun?

Also did Leia choose to stop her Jedi training? Another thing I need to see a 2nd time.

Yet another film that completely divides an already toxic community. Possibly the most toxic fan base since the rock band KISS (which is really saying something, I've seen a VIOLENT fight break out in a bar over a debate on the KISS solo albums).

What is absolutely clear to me, even if you love Episode IX is that this brand had NO IDEA where the story was going from the moment they bought the brand from George.

Honestly even the stinking DC universe managed its megabrand better than this, (which, if you've ever seen BvS or Justice League you know is really saying something).

I decided to point a thing that I liked, after all the complaints, and that is that they acknowledged a more complicated nature of the Force in movie form, after Baby Yoda tried to Force choke Cara Dune. The Light/Dark side duality is religious - Jedi's - reading. But, Baby Yoda and Rey showed that there is only the Force, it is how you use it that matters. And Rey is VERY angry and afraid and under the influence of one of the most powerful Force users, yet her turn wasn't inevitable. Her heart and integrity won. The powers usually reserved for Dark side users are just that, Force powers, only how they are used matters. Force Choke, Force lightning, doesn't matter. Many opportunities for exploration there.

She was literally given approval by Luke & Leia. And try to keep your blood pressure under control.

Finally I went to the theater this afternoon and I had a very good time.

Really impressed with what JJ did with the pile of ash that was left. Some choices were even brilliant.

And finally KR did what Vader couldn't do.

He saved his love from dying

I hate explaining jokes, but she pointed out the hilarity of Anakin's lightsaber being buried under the very thing he hates. It's a very amusing thought.

I was reacting to stolen name, wasn't even thinking about lightsaber in the sand. Maybe because I heard (and told) a variation of it a gazillion times in the last 20 years. :D I've seen the picture only later. Can't blame me for thinking she was serious, you've been here long enough. ;)

People saying that Ben "died" apparently wasn't paying attention, he became one with the force [he disappeared like Obi, Yoda, Luke and Leia]. Now, I'm not sure why they excluded him from the Luke and Leia shot.

I thought it was the spirit of Palpatine that Survived in the explosion. The body that we see in TROS is a clone.

We already discussed this yesterday but I don't remember where.

    That's a good question. I'll take a shot at it. :)

I think to me right now, it's about the legacy of the name, and the fact it was Rey's masters - the Skywalker twins - and that she buried their lightsabers in lieu of bodies for a grave - then we get the twin suns. Rey is the surving member of the Dyad - two that are one, and so by the one saving the other (and vice-versa), they possibly kind of both live on, in a way. We see the twin suns overlapping, both significantly perhaps suggesting the Dyad of Rey and Ben, but also hilariously it's a visual pun on BB8, and then we see them separate. So I like to think the twin suns are, at least as a possible interpretation (intentional or not), referring to both Luke and Leia, but also Ben and Rey (and, BB8's head and body lol).
    -----
I mean, you jest, but does anyone else think TRoS absolutely supports the theory (THEORY!) that Palpatine actually siphoned life force energy from Padme to sustain Vader in ROTS? I do.

"For reasons we can't explain we are losing her."

I think it's possible, that's all. And would be cool if ever confirmed. But it doesn't have to be.

That's the same. => Dying and becoming one with the force. Everyone who dies becomes one with the Force. But not everyone becomes a Force Ghost.
