    It's Vader. We won't see him back in the ST but we are getting to see him in all his glory on Rebels and now it appears in Rogue One and I'm satisfied with that.

    Well I think it is a nice trope. It works well in these kind of stories. I like how they did it with Cade Skywalker, I'm a big fan of Star Wars Legacy, though I don't mind it being no longer canonicity.
