    I disagree.

Padme has shown alot more emotions in TPM than Leia in ANH.
Also Padme have spoke about her planet suffering during the senate proceedings.

Also we had several scenes in the movie where she was sad, upset and worried about it. And two different scenes with her and Palpatine.

Also alot of Padme scenes are deleted from ROTS too.
It seems that Padme scenes where always the first when they needed something to delete.

While part of me wishes they'd kept the first Rebel scene in ROTS, part of me is happy they didn't. Those scenes make her look like a naive idiot, unable to comprehend anything wrong with Palpatine's motives. It's a complete contradiction to scenes that actually were in TPM, where she basically calls him out for being a corrupt opportunist ("My fate will be the same as our people.").

The only Padme scenes I wish weren't deleted are:
    - Talking about Anakin with Sola and Jobal.
    - Talking with C-3PO on Tatooine.
    - The scene where Anakin and Padme talk about whether the "baby" will be a boy or girl.

Empty streets. We don't know really know why they're empty though; on my first few viewings I just thought that's how the royal palace and surrounding city were, like the Forbidden City. If the story had backed up a few hours or days, we could see them being emptied. But nope, what we got was a population that is only important to the story when they're safe and happy.

My biggest head scratch on this is why it wasn't even written into the script, much less filmed. A second unit could capture the footage in a very short amount of time.

Then George could leave it on the editing room floor.

I like Padme family scenes deleted from AOTC. They add alot to her character. To bad that they where deleted.

Terrible writing, that line was. The people of Naboo fasted for 72 hours, tops... before she uttered that garbage.

@duckface --Good thing that we found out later on that it was Darth Maul splicing those msg's together, because unless I missed something, the droids weren't killing anyone. TPM had some cool moments but it was bogged down by nonsensical dialog, politics nobody cared about and a frogman trying to be a hairless, Jamaican Wookiee.

A good example of what could have been done is the Onderon arc in The Clone Wars. We get plenty of reaction from ordinary people to the droid army occupation, hints in their faces of hardship and more than anything, agency! The Onderonians riot in the city when the military revolt begins in earnest. The Naboo are unseen, helpless and passive and as such the audience cares a lot less about their fate. Even the Gungans looked content enough to be in their secret place when they were essentially refugees, but at least they fought I suppose.
