There are likely a lot of reasons and a lot of duties for the inquisitors.

But I have to wonder if there iss one tragic possible goal taht has not been considered, what if... what if Vader created them in part, because he hopes one of them will kill him and take his place as the emperors apprentice.

Why would Vader want anyone to kill and replace him? That's the last thing he wants.

Deep down Vader regrets everythinghe has done, every evil act, and all that he has lost. He has become more machine than man, simply existing for its own sake, letting cruelty and malice be his only guide in life.

Its not unreasonable to think that some part of him wants it all to end...

how would this be a joke in any way shape or form.

Why is it weird to think that Vader secretly hopes an inquisitor will rise to take his place one day?

If you read the Darth Vader comics, you'll find out that The Emperor has had replacements ready for him for a long time, after his disappointment on Mustafar
and the destruction of the Death Star, and that Vader wishes to defeat those replacements so they cannot take his place.

Good point, but I dont think they are supposed to be replacements as apprentices but rather just as enforcers... I dnot think the emperor ultimately doesnt want anyone else to wield the power of the force

I think it'd be more tragic - and more human of Vader (which is why I'm hoping what I'm about to propose isn't true) - if that Vader raised and trained Inquisitors as some sort of honoring of the child he thinks died with Padme.

Edit: But since the Inquisitors are more of Palpatine's group I assume than Vader's I'd doubt there's any real tragic reason behind them. Horror maybe, but I doubt tragedy for now.

I know much of the EU and other books have been thrown out, but as some have stated what if Vader was searching for a powerful force user that both could take on the Emperor in removing him, just as Vader was trying to do with Starkiller? I wouldn't rule out that Vader or Sidious had other plans set up in the possibility that either one would fall?

You have to keep in mind everything anakin/vader dose/did, in his mind was doing the right thing to protect padame then in padame' memory the Galaxy, even bring Luke over to the dark side effectively he was trying to protect him and in his twisted way rebuild a family ie " rule the Galaxy as father and son"

Interesting...this would definitely make Darth Vader more human.Him regretting inside himself what he has done.

Considering a lot of EU work has established that Vader's greatest hatred is for himself (and the theory that he originally tried to throw himself over the bridge with Palpy but simply lacked the strength), I don't know why people are s**tting over your post. That said, I would imagine it was a subconscious wish, not anything overt.
