What is the "that" to which you were referring?

Leaks? "You're" saying in "your" post there won't be a lot of leaks?

    Possibly.

Just off the top of my head I don't remember nearly as many leaks for RO than there were for TFA, but they also were more forthcoming about RO stuff, releasing like 10 minutes worth of trailers between mid-April and late October. TFA had about 4 minutes worth of trailers released in the same period (plus 45 seconds of footage released the previous November).

TFA was the first SW film in 10 years and first with OT cast since 1983, so there was more attention around its content release than RO, which was marketed with the public's appetite largely satiated for SW.

E8 is a saga film with established characters (including one who is making his triumphant return, we mean it this time, promise!). IMO, E8 will have more leaks than RO and fewer than TFA.

Maybe LFL has plugged the source of the leaks about TFA. Maybe E8 has benefited from the focus on RO and ease of getting RO information rather than trying to chase down E8 info (or releasing it when it wouldn't get as much play as it will in February or June of this year).

The people who have info on E8 are many and about to increase dramatically, and the incentive for leaking it is greater than it was before RO.

Game of Thrones, TFA, and most super popular entertainment properties have had a significant amount of leaks.

I think we'll start seeing some unauthorized E8 stuff after the Oscars

    Borderline false advertising?

Yeah, I'd agree. I wonder if he tweeted the original one, or if it was an intern.

    I think that is so.

I would personally go on to extend that to say Rogue One has also been of some sustenance to many fans, certainly myself, anxiously awaiting Episode VIII.

Further out, the Han Solo film could help to fill the gap (between 2017 and 2019) I know many of us will be all too keenly aware of shortly after Episode VIII concludes and leaves many of us looking eagerly out toward Episode IX.

It's one of the better kinds of anxiety, though.

But, I do have to say Yoda really did have a good point...

    (paraphrasing)

"All your life you looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never your mind on where you were. Hmm? What you were doing.... You are reckless!"

    (yoda ghost)

LOL. Why, yes, I am! :D

I don't really expect much until the week before Orlando, at this point.

If you mean in terms of visual content, you're probably right. That won't stop the rumor mill, or early bits of marketing on the film, from getting out.

True. Do you expect a title to be named much more than a week before Celebration?

Even that would be pretty exciting!

From a logical standpoint, yes. Here are 4 reasons why:
    1. Revealing the title ahead of Celebration Orlando creates free publicity for the movie. The entertainment media's going to covering the event anyway, so revealing the title creates more discussion and speculation on one of their biggest movies of the year, which can only be a good thing - and, of course, it would generate more excitement when news about the movie's teaser actually arrives.
    2. When the movie hits, it's not going to be advertised as Episode VIII. Disney ditched the format as far as the ad campaigns go (along with some of the recent home video media, as even the Prequel Trilogy movies are being referred to by their subtitles and not their episode numbers), though they're still a part of the opening crawls for the movies that aren't spin-offs. The sooner they get their movie's real name out there, the easier time they're going to have to raise awareness for the movie to casual audiences (who provide a good chunk of their revenue).
    3. They're going to be printing out some of the first Episode VIII merchandise for release at Celebration. All it would take for the title to leak would be for precisely one (1) single employee to break their NDA and take a photo of the merch with their cell phones. And you've got thousands of employees making this stuff. If you want the media to focus on your movie's title, it's better to do that through official means and a broad statement about the film than it would be to have someone leak it, forcing you to come up with something on short notice, followed quickly by an internal witch-hunt that could take days. Less headaches will be involved for Lucasfilm if they go for being a bit more transparent.
    4. They have no reason to sit on the title before Celebration. Rian Johnson has already made it clear that he's no fan of the Mystery Box method that J. J. Abrams was in favor for (though Abrams was justified in the sense that audiences had no idea what to expect during the time period when The Force Awakens was set, and as such, a degree of secrecy was actually somewhat beneficial to the movie). From what Rogue One has shown us, it seems as though Disney's marketing campaign for the film and pretty much every Star Wars movie going forward will be more conventional - no half-year-long breaks between the second teaser and the full trailer will be had this time around.
Lucasfilm, of course, has done a few (seemingly) illogical things in handling the Star Wars ad campaigns thus far - id est, not having a Rogue One trailer ready for Celebration Europe III and choosing to skip out on revealing a trailer for The Force Awakens at SDCC 2015. But the event happens after Rogue One is already on home video, and while there's other Star Wars content to pay attention to, the movies are always going to be the biggest money-makers for the company, and that's where the focus is going to remain.

Well (if true) i think that wraps up the trailer debate now, 9 days before celebration. TFA blu ray came out April 5th, Rouge One's first teaser came out April 7th.
