"Rogue One" cash cow needs to be milked first before Episode VIII details are 'leaked'.

 

I like what Driver says about seeing it without a trailer... I'd like to go in fresh as well this time around. I don't have the willpower to avoid all the TV ads & trailers

We may indeed get the first OFFICIAL details from VIII this spring. However, keep in mind that like TFA, there will be tons of leaks coming out unofficially before this time. For example, if you go to making Star Wars .net, the team there have pieced together quite a few interesting tidbits about Snoke and details on Ach-To. More leaks will be coming out as post-production is well underway on VIII.

We live in such exciting times: VIII leaks, rebels starting again in January, Han Solo filming in February, and IX filming before Summer 2017. Kids these days don't know how spoiled they are.

 

That tweet is inaccurate. She said "going into spring you'll start to see things."

A) KK can go cuddle with a rusty chainsaw. Your massive tent pole movie you've been hyping for 20 months needs "room to breathe" before you show your customers a new advertisement? Boo-hoo KK. Must be a rough life with only a dozen servents to do all the regular stuff while you count your money, present and future. Yes, I know, I'm supposed to eat what's on my plate and consume, consume, consume like a good SW fan.

B) Leaks happen. The more you tighten your grip, the more things slip through your fingers. Being content hoarders gives more incentive and attention to leakers and leaks. We knew the entire plot essentially of TFA despite JJ's megalomaniac "mystery box" BS. A lot of it wasn't confirmed, but stuff like the severed hand that were technically wrong still had basis in truth AND reflected the overall arc of the movie.

B2) (great vitamin) KK definitely stopped shopping for her 9th house, 14th Picasso, and 17th Fabergé egg to tell her assistant to get Gareth Edwards on the phone to tell him she was glad she gave his movie to Tony Gilroy because revealing the ANH 4K was supposed to be sponsored by...TBD, but she knew it would have made $$$ to announce it, and he better not fail her again. Lesson: KK thinks she controls the timeline of E8 info. She's wrong.

3) China. Taiwan. KK and JJ and Iger know the difference even if Trump doesn't. They've paid for their grandkids college thanks to the lower wages and generally cutthroat market forces that have given Americans everything from iPhones to opium. However, Asia isn't just for profit margins and vacations you only tell your doctor about. Asia provides tons of unsanctioned information about toys, movies, and other intellectual properties. We'll get lots of E8 information in January and February and other months before December 2017. It may not be confirmed by LFL or MSW, but we'll all be able to make up our own minds about it instead of being spoon fed exclusively.

D) the Leaks are often better than the approved content. JJ looooooooved giving Jakku information in the run up to TFA, especially that Sherpa/Dark Crystal puppet thing that had no bearing on the plot. He showed off Poe's Xwing a lot which lasted 5 minutes of the movie before being destroyed. Phasma and Luke were included in a ton of the visual marketing. The KOR had their only scene shown in the only real trailer, which didn't get released until well into October. So much of that was way less relevant than any of the leaks. Heck, Luke's appearance was leaked twice, and that was arguably their biggest focus of secrecy.

E) I hope everyone sees the tongue firmly planted in cheek in this post, while still respecting that my points are valid.

Ah that Mark Hamill...really knows how to make friends.

 

I think that makes the revelation that he doesnt directly run that account himself...at least he owns up to the truth in things though

All joking aside, it would have been nice to have gotten a snippet or tidbit of Epiosde VIII.
I still find it hard to believe that we're getting another episode movie THIS YEAR.

 

We should have gotten it in a couple of months from now originally.

Well considering it's only Day 1...

 

Seems extremely unlikely, especially since we haven't even gotten a title for the film. Patton Oswalt is just being Patton Oswalt.

 

This is flat out bordeline considering his show is pay per view.
