I hope so to, Leonardo Dicaprio waited long enough & finally got his oscar star wars should to, I saw Mad Max & don't get me wrong it was a fantastic movie & deserved, maybe by 2019 Star Wars will get it's chance.

My god man, rent Mad Max... IMO it deserved to win special effects. You don't have to watch the original Mad Max's to enjoy Fury Road, but I did & found the 1st one to be really dated... the 2nd one though was a bit similar to Fury road... dated, but fun to watch due to it's creativity. Fury Road is also very funny. But seriously, do watch it, You're missing out.

I'm shocked... they are breaking from the formula of years between films. I have to admit it bums me out a bit, I kinda like the idea of seeing drastic changes in characters between films... almost like new reveals each time you see the character age. But I do hope it's indicative of an immediate continuation of the series... like make it a 6 Episode story. I'm wondering if Disney was just testing the water with TFA to decide on it of would only go to 9 or not?

 

I am not real surprised, I expected they would break from something. I was kind of surprised it took until VIII. I will say that if they do an opening crawl at all, which they might not given where it begins, I would suspect that like the crawl for VII was a search for Luke crawl, I suspect that the crawl for VIII will update us a small bit on Luke in the last 30 years. This would allow them to go back and sort of see VIII from Luke's perspective without him being the main character

 

Oh come on there's gotta be an opening crawl!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it will be the opening opening shot either, Ridley isn't present for editing so I'm sure it shouldn't be literally as she says it is. There might not be any dialogue prior to Rey/ Luke scene, but there's gotta be some kind of transition. (crawl/ outer space then *boom* Rey passing lightsaber scene would be jarring).

I suspect it will come shortly after the crawl with a brief space scene, perhaps something like the Episode II or Episode V openings which had no dialogue either. If there's no dialogue then Ridley might not be aware of preceding scenes. *or* maybe she's not allowed to see other parts of the script which might come before that scene.

 

I thought they would go on with the rest of the trilogy either way.

 

Oh I meant like what if they extend the trilogy from just being 3 films to 6... make the Rey vs. Snoke thing go from 7 to 12. There still seems to be lots of space to tell that story... kinda like how Harry Potter was a 7 part series spanning 8 films. I feel like 3 might be too short! (haha)
