Unkar Plutt....Why Rey "family" leave her with him???

I believe Unkar is SORT OF looking out for Rey, under the watchful Eye of San Tekka. When Tekka is killed by Kylo at the start, that's when BB goes to Rey. I Believe Luke or whoever from the Jedi Temple (including San Tekka, because he knows Kylo, Kylo says look how old you've become) Luke goes into hiding, San Tekka stay's behind with the last piece of the map to him. Once Rey Awakens, the plan begins.

I also believe Han is in on picking Rey up which is why they catch up with them so quickly, I know that Unkar stole the falcon from la-de-dah- and whatever, but I think that may be misdirection.
When Solo learns Rey's name he offers her a job, felt at that moment he was trying to secure protecting her and get her to where she needs to go.

Yes I believe there is more to it indeed.

 

My Theory is Unkar was given the Falcon In exchange to protect Rey. The Falcon was not stolen by Unkar Plutt like Rey says it is.

 

Rey is no slave, is she? Anakin was. Anakin and his mother were slaves. They were slaves in Episode 1.

And I strongly disagree Unkar knowing Rey's Family. Rey was dumped on Jakku, Unkar was nowhere in that scene.

I like Simon Pegg but I do not think his character Unkar is that important.

+ to Rocky Road, she is not a slave as such, no, but she does get paid in food portions. that's pretty lame wouldn't you say? There's nothing she can do but remain on that planet if she's not getting credits, that's why. San Tekka and Unkar are involved in the start of this, definitely

And yes, it is Unkar in the flashback scene. you even hear his voice.

I love this theory. Because she knows of the ship quite a bit. "that hasn't run in years" which implies she's also already flown it or seen it flown about in the past on Jakku.

 

I think she was left there by her MOTHER, Leia, when her son, Ben Solo, turned to the Dark Side.
Lor San Tekka said he knew Leia when she was a Princess, so Leia left her daughter there so Lor could
keep an eye on her. LEIA is the only connection to Jakku. Leia didn't want her son to turn her daughter to the Dark Side.
When Leia & Rey hugged, they played the Han & Leia love theme.

 

I have to agree that it is indeed Unkar Plutt as that is obviously his hand holding Rey.




I think it was her mom who left her there and it was just so she would stay out of anything related to the Jedi or the Dark Side. I do wonder why leave a little girl in the care of a nasty dude like Unkar but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

 

You can also hear his voice, so yes, that's Unkar.

I like the theory than Han gave the Falcon to Unkar in exchange for keeping an eye on her. Han definitely knows who Rey is.

 

I do wonder if perhaps they cut Unkar's scene on Takodana, because they have since decided to give the character a more important role.

Except Han didn't really know who Unkar was (at least in the extended dialogue from the novel)... and Han didn't have the Falcon to give to anybody (it was stolen by "Ducain" as Han himself mentioned in the film).

It's a kind of weak theory right now.

Lor San Tekka also knows Luke... Lor San Tekka knows all about the Skywalker family.

I don't see Luke OR Leia leaving their daughter/niece with Unkar Plutt, unless they were extremely desperate. Luke venturing off into unknown, treacherous space sounds more plausible to me, though you could say it was Leia hiding her from Snoke.

However, I do feel that Rey is the reason why Lor San Tekka was living on Jakku. There's really no other sensible reason for him to be living there.

 

You are right! That means Simon Pegg might return in Episode VIII - that lucky bastard...

She is no slave. She has a bad paid job but that is huge difference.

When Han offered her a job on the falcon, she told him nothing about her being a slave but she rejected his offer because she wanted to return to Jakku to wait for her family to return- that is the reason why she do not want to leave the planet.
