    Compression only CPR is considered the new standard as studies have shown it actually works better and saves more lives than the traditional mouth-to-mouth combined with compressions. The interruption when doing the mouth-to-mouth portion caused more difficulties in maintaining circulation. Your blood actually carries plenty of oxygen for your body to survive on for upwards of an hour or even beyond, it's the lack of circulation which actually facilitates the oxygen from moving out of your blood and into your tissues and organs that is the most immediate concern. Compression only cpr thus addresses that main concern as long as help is one the way and just a matter of a few hours at most away.

    So the fact she received compression only cpr is not indicative of the seriousness of her condition.

    My thoughts are with her and I hope she recovers fully and soon.

    That is just stating the obvious. It is not unusual that it takes some time to get a pulse. Some suggestions for CPR, even go that far to not even waste your time for checking the pulse, just go on with the CPR "better safe then sorry". The CPR is the way to keep the blood circulating, not the heart in cardiac arrest. What we know so far is that she was lucky enough to have a doctor on board with a nurse, immediate response is crucial. The oxygen need of the body is reduced so they can make it a couple of minutes, the blood contains enough oxygen and the CPR plus little gasps of the patient extend the time, just as an example how much oxygen is needed in a CPR: you press 30 times(heart beat) before you give 2 mouth to mouth, some suggestions go that far to say go 100% CPR. I'm sure the Doctor knew that. It is not just that simple, that you have time x and then you stop doing something, it is a complex matter, and she was lucky enough to get help quickly. I'm not sold on those Tweets, because they are incomplete, sometimes contradicting. It is not even enough information.

    I just hope the best. It is a serious condition, but she got the best help she could get in that moment, it is now time to wait and see.

    I being CPR certified and my BF being a nurse know they have done away with the rescue breaths etc in most cases
    That does not change the fact the the oxygen left in the blood that is circulating is...and I quote "At the moment of cardiac arrest, there is also an adequate amount of oxygen in the blood to maintain metabolism within the brain for a few minutes." Google it if you dont believe me.

    As CPR certified myself and my BF is a nurse I know the new standards of CPR. That does not change the fact hownlong the blood is oxygenated in your system. Unfortunatley you can google it because it is no where near an hour. To the braing it is only several minutes as it also is to the heart and lungs. Ps all the reports i read said it was an EMT that administered aide .

    Hi guys, I'm afraid I've heard on the radio that Carrie Fisher has died aged 60 :(

    Wasn't sure what the drill is, but thought you'd want to know.

    Needless to say as a fan, I'm heartbroken.
